Pokémon Gold/Silver (1999; GBC)
The post game elements in this line are still the best in the series, practically because there's two games in one (as it includes traveling to places in the original).
Final Fantasy IV (1991; SNES)
One of my favorite RPG's in terms of the story... even though leveling up was a bit of a chore than it should be.
Kid Icarus Uprising (2012; 3DS)
Although this was kind of more of a celebration and throwback of the series, I really liked the experience (especially with the full voice acting)

I liked Darkwing Duck better, both in terms of the cartoon and in terms of the Capcom game.

1) Thief The Dark Project (PC)- Monumental stealth game way ahead of it's time.
2) Mark Of The Ninja (PC, xbox360) - one of the best indie games in years.
3) Half Life (PC) - one of my favorite games, actually prefer this game over its sequel.
4) Donkey Kong (94)- this Gameboy remake of the arcade classic contains 97 new levels.
5) Track And Field (Arcade) one of my favorite arcade games.

It has the same name, but it's not a remake.
It's a completely new game that borrows a few levels for nostalgia's sake.

Well the first 4 levels follow the same story, from then on it's a different game.

Previously nominated:
Berzerk! (Atari 2600)
Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse (NES)
Phantasy Star IV (Genesis)
Shining Force (Genesis)
Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King (PS2)
Fatal Frame (PS2)
Dead Space 3 (PS3)
Red Dead Redemption (PS3)
Shinobi (PS2)
Shadowhearts Covenant (PS2)
I tried to be done, but found I really wanted to give props and advocacy to a few more.
Metal Gear Solid 2: The Sons of Liberty (PS2) - I generally have pretty mixed feelings about games in this series, but I think this one is incredible from beginning to end. The story and environments work really well and it is just fun to do all of that special agent stuff, steal dog tags, and etc. I beat it on the second hardest mode and got all tags (European Extreme mode was too tough for me). I enjoyed this game immensely and am proud of Kojima for having the courage to let Snake take a back seat for much of the game. I liked Raiden a lot but it was also neat to get to see Snake from someone else's perspective.
Final Fantasy X (PS2) - what can I say? I love the characters, the story, and Spira. What more could one want from their JRPG? It's also worth noting I have over 300 hours in it and I'm still playing it. I recently discovered that I'll have to play much of the game again if I want to platinum it and I'm totally okay with that. I may even grab the PS4 version...
Ico (PS2) - This game is beautiful and engaging. It does an outstanding job of telling a story without words and you find yourself genuinely caring about the characters. It's subtle but effective in delivery. I find myself missing it even though I've scrubbed it through and through already.
Ultima Underworld: The Stygian Abyss (PC] - This is a dungeon crawler and first-person action RPG that's quite old but that I have fond memories of. As you dig deeper and deeper, your understanding of your surroundings and how everything is put together grows. Discovering new paths and items is awesomely fun and the game rewards your efforts with increasingly larger access to dungeon to explore.

Hi everyone! Here's an interesting question for us to clear up as a team.
I'm looking at a few examples of ports & remakes and considering how to group them.
On one end of the spectrum, we have nominations for Xenoblade Chronicles for Wii and Xenoblade Chronicles 3D for 3DS. My understanding is that this is pretty much a straight port, so they should be grouped together. Easy.
Somewhere in the middle, we have Wind Waker and Wind Waker HD, and Link's Awakening and Link's Awakening DX. We've already decided to group both of these together on the grounds that they're remasters, not quite different enough to warrant completely new entries.
On the other end of the spectrum, we have Ocarina of Time for N64 and Ocarina of Time 3D for 3DS. This is pretty much a remake from the ground up. As I mentioned earlier, I think it probably makes the most sense to have these games considered separately, but I'm open to discussion even on that point. It kind of depends on our philosophy of grouping games. Would someone vote for the N64 version over the 3DS version if they ended up in the same bracket? Would someone nominate one and not the other? As it turns out, yes, and some people deliberately nominated both. This seems to confirm my sense that they should compete separately.
