Surprised it's only Path of Radiance! Maybe the Radiant Dawn world will be "World of Dawn", rather than "world of Radiant" :p

Or "Return to World of Radiance" like they did with one of the previous story chapters. They'll certainly relish the opportunity to add more Tellius characters.

The interesting thing about this update is that it includes a new actual Story Mode chapter instead of the usual Paralogue/side-story. That should mean 5 battles with 3 difficulty modes each = 15 more free orbs, plus whatever special quests they give us to celebrate. I still have a small stockpile or orbs to try to summon Ike, too.

I just finished defeating Robin and Navarre with Robin and Navarre for their quests, so I'm ready for new content. :)

The new story chapter is very interesting! It features win/loss timers for the first time (a couple of the maps require to you defend for x turns, and one requires you to defeat all enemies in x turns) and reinforcements for the first time. They're also quite challenging on Lunatic Mode, especially when you factor in the new quests that require you to finish them with a certain team composition without anyone dying.

I literally poured out my entire long-held stockpile of orbs, only picking red stones except when I got a round with none available, in an attempt to get Ike. I did manage to get one Ike (+Spd/-Atk, not great, but not awful), and I also got Eirika and Roy, both at 4*, both of whom I never had before. So I don't feel too bad about now being orbless, especially considering I can't imagine there'll be anyone coming anytime soon that I care enough to summon for.

I had 120 orbs going into this banner. I decided to spend orbs with the goal of getting either Ike or Titania.

About 50 or so orbs in I picked up a 5* Hawkeye, which made me rage HARD. I honestly cannot think of a more worthless 5* in the entire game. I think the character himself is ok, but it's very frustrating picking him up while trying to roll for something that's actually desirable. Nonetheless, I decided to press on and then lucked out, acquiring the desired Titania. The Titania in question has very bad IVs. She's +Def, -Spd, but I'm not too fussed over that. She isn't a particularly great character anyways. I mainly wanted Titania for my collection as I adored her in Path of Radiance.

In the end I spent 80+ orbs to get a mediocre Titania. I'm not too displeased about that as I did pick up some gems along the way:

-a 4* +Atk, -Res Lukas.

-a 3* +Atk, -Spd Cherche AND a 4* Camilla (also +Atk, -Spd). The combination is good as I plan to use 42,000 or so feathers to strap a brave axe+ on 5* Cherche to get my first 5* flier. I feel like -Spd is just fine on Cherche. With a brave axe, she ends up reaching Reinhardt levels of pisspoor speed regardless.

-a 4* Tharja with meh but not terrible IVs (iirc +Res, -HP or something like that). This was great for me as I wanted a Tharja from the very beginning. She's one of my favorite characters from Awakening and Fates. Like Titania, it's nice to have her purely for collection purposes. If I can get a better one down the road, she'll be definite 5* material as well.

-the aforementioned 5* Hawkeye. If nothing else, he allows me to throw Deathblow 3 on somebody.

-A neutral Palla, which is great for Moonbow inheritance.

-A 3* +Atk, -Res Gunter. I'm not sure if I will bother using him, but it's nice to have at least.

Right now I still have 54 orbs too, which means that I can probably roll on the next banner too.

I've been very reticent about sending home characters lately. In fact, I'm now well past the 100 mark for characters. I think with hero merit being a thing now, in most cases I'd like to keep at least one copy of every character. I'll make an exception for circumstances in which I really need something for skill inheritance, such as Camilla's invaluable brave axe+ for Cherche.

I had predicted a Celica focused banner instead of Path of Radiance. Nonetheless, I'm sure a Celica focused banner is coming, probably in two weeks. It's gotta come at some point before or during the release of Shadows of Valentia. I'd love to roll either a Celica or Mae if either are available.

====================================

As for the new quests and missions, I found them to be cake. It's nice of them to give players 20 free orbs. I finished 3 of the lunatic quests with my core team of Nino, Robin, Selena and Azura. For the other two, I used Nino, Sheena, Selena and Azura. I also managed a score of 4,744 points in the arena in my first try this week, which is a lot better than I did last week. No defense wins though; it seems like the arena changes are making it harder to get those.

Yep, I'm on a 2-3 week defence drought as well.

Almost any bane on a Brave+ Cherche is going to be OK, since Spd literally doesn't matter, and she shouldn't be getting hit even a single time. Slapping Pivot or Reposition on her will help you keep her out of harm's way. I also have Axebreaker 3 on mine to help me nuke greens as well as blues. I also have an extra set of Death Blow 3 lying around that I'll probably put on her for even more insane nuke ability, but I haven't committed to that yet.

The only characters I'm sending home now are duplicates of characters I already own (hero merit) with no good skills I care about inheriting.

I haven't taken a serious run at the Lunatic Quests yet, but my non-serious runs were met with failure. I'll have to actually look at the maps and enemy spawns and work out what I have. I think the key is killing enemies before they get to you / become too overwhelming, because if you get to a later round with a lot of enemies still alive, someone is going down. The other option is to try to bottleneck the AI so only 1-2 can attack you at a time. This might be a healer's time to shine.

Alright, I've now done 10-3. I also did 10-5 but I forgot to bring a Lancer, so it didn't count for the quest, hah!

I just completed an Arena run with 4692 points, and that was with one character dying! I bet I could have broken 4800 for the first time. At least this'll be enough for 3500-4000 feathers, not counting Defence points that may or may not show up. I've been trying to lay trap teams, like use a team of all the same type, to hope to catch someone who doesn't have a good counter for that one colour. All you need to do is beat one team, or prompt one surrender (which often just means defeating one unit, since a lot of high-tier players are trying to go deathless).

Stream News:

-Orbs for arena streaks. If you win a bunch in a row, you gonna get some orbs. It might be based on kills. Not sure.
-Azura, Hector, Ryoma and Tacomeme banner TONIGHT with increased 5% roll rate.
-Veronica Grand Hero Battle coming SOON.tm
-Some tiles (fortress) now have defensive benefits for units standing on them.
-Voting gauntlet featuring Sanaki, Linde, Julia, Tharja, Robin (male), Merric, Leo and Henry.
-Xander Grand Hero Battle coming SOON.tm (May 2).

You might be regretting blowing all those orbs on Ike now. I regret blowing 80 for Titania.

Since this thread covers more topics than just Heroes... ;)

Intelligent Systems had another Fire Emblem game in development for Wii back in the day that would have been a real time strategy game. Not too much information on it, but the devs discuss its life and death briefly here http://gonintendo.com/stories/279047-fi ... -which-wou

Would have been an interesting time to be making a Fire Emblem game, as by the time they got to developing Awakening, they were told if it didn't sell well it was going to be the last Fire Emblem.

I think it would have been a disaster anyways. The Tellius games didn't sell well on Wii/Gamecube, but they were solid, excellent games. A real time strategy game probably wouldn't have worked out on Wii either. It wouldn't have likely attracted new players and it would have probably alienated a lot of Fire Emblem fans.

Glad they axed it and went with Awakening instead. There were a lot of things I didn't like about Awakening, but it was still a decent game with some fresh new ideas. Then Fates came and was a homerun for me outside of the garbage plot, improving upon everything I didn't like about Awakening.

I rolled three Hectors, a 5* Lilina and an Azura. Not bad at all.

W—what?! Three Hectors?! LOL

This new banner is fucking insane. Of course they wait until everyone drained off on Ike before introducing something like this! Were you summoning around the circle, or just focusing on certain colours? I do want Hector and especially Azura, but I don't care as much about Takumi and Ryoma.

I also don't think I care much about that upcoming Tome mage summon focus... Linde would be nice, but none of them are really must-haves for me.

Edited to add, if we assume there will be 9 free orbs from the May quests, and the 2-per-day until 7 May, we should have almost 30 free orbs before this summon focus goes away. That's at least a couple free pulls at these all-star heroes.
