I think the people who complain about the durability of the cardboard are missing the point. The entertainmentpleasures of this thing don't come from having nice toys to play with. They come from the actual act of assembling the toys.

I can't quite imagine imagine playing the robot pack with a huge lump of wood strapped to my back.
Still I would not be surprized to see people actually make Labo out of wood or even steel.

You're right. There's a 100% chance that some die-hard hobbyist machinist is going to make some high-quality pieces of this stuff.

Nintendo Labo comes with Toy Con Garage, a feature where you can use rudimentary programming to customize your creations.

This makes the package a lot more appealing in my eyes. Kids will be able to build whatever they want and use the joy con to make their creations come alive in some way. An example from the article even mentions taking the piano kit and turning it into an electric guitar.

Nintendo released a couple of videos detailing the features including gameplay details.
The motorcycle game has a full on track editor with loads of features & the piano has a full on music sequencer where you can use punch cards for the note sequence & waveform patterns.
So Nintendo certainly gone full out with Labo.

Yeah the variety kit in particular has a lot going for it, especially when it comes to customizability. I really like that you can punch holes in little cards to make a music track that will play itself.

I may grab it if it ever goes down to $40 or something. For now, I've just been enjoying the different creations people have been showing online.
