If a game wanted to advance to the next round, it would have gotten enough votes to do so.

I don't understand what you mean.
Was this the poll where the top 3 went through I would have assumed then all 3 games were allowed to go through except poll 2 has 4.

4 were allowed to go through in this one.

At what situation would a tiebreaker be required?
Say Game A gets 5 votes and Game B, C, D, E get 4 would only Game A advance?
What if Game A/B get 5 votes and C/D/E get 4.
The rulings seem strange I don't remember a no tiebreaker rule last time or atleast the tied games both would have gone through.
I don't overally care about the mech bracket but will in later side brackets also will this rule apply in the main competition.

We'll cross that bridge when we come to it.

The tied games weren't good enough to go through, or else they would have gotten more votes.
In the first poll:
#1 - Into the Breach (5 votes)
#2 - Custom Robo (3 votes)
#2 - Fallout 4 (3 votes)
#5 - Carnage Heart (2 votes)
#5 - Solatorobo: Red the Hunter (2 votes)
The 5th-place games didn't beat enough games to advance.

I think this is something that should be decided upon now and by the whole community especially on the main event side.
They didn't get enough votes isn't really a good reason as it could easily just have been in a very competitive bracket.
Again to be clear couldn't care less about the mech bracket but it comes to a game I love coming tying with 3 other games for 3rd in a top 4 go through situation I'm going to be really confused and fight for the tiebreaker to be done.
I really think a proper ground rule on when tiebreakers do come in place should happen. It shouldn't be wishywashy.

Formating here is wrong it should be
#1 - Into the Breach (5 votes)
#2 - Custom Robo (3 votes)
#2 - Fallout 4 (3 votes)
#4 - Carnage Heart (2 votes)
#4 - Solatorobo: Red the Hunter (2 votes)
They tied for the 4th spot not the 5th there's only 3 games ahead of them.

Nope, your formatting is wrong. There are 4 games Carnage Heart failed to beat.
If it happens in a later round, like I said, we'll cross that bridge when we come to it. This is the first round of a side-event. The purpose of the early rounds is to whittle down the list. It's generous not to just make the #1 game of each poll advance all the way down the line.

Then fallout 4 and custom robo are 3rd. But that's not how rankings work.

Yes it is.
Only 4 games can advance. If they were 4th place, and they advanced, 5 games would have somehow metaphysically advanced. Not possible, not enough room for them.
Think about it this way: the tie-breaker already happened. It was the potential for someone to cast a vote that would have broken their tie. Since no one did so, that was the end of that.
