Lots of points! :)

Hopefully Vancouver can tie it up and send the game past regulation, but I doubt it...

Damn though... no chess match [going into shootout tied 0-0]. Zetterberg prevents the repeat of the STL/LA game that happened the other night! :P

Big night in Dallas! Seguin finally started picking up points for Vic (4 points), and Spezza added 3. That puts me in the lead by one point over Slurm, and it also pushed Vic 2 points ahead of Kreegs for 3rd place.

Tomorrow's the opportunity for Slurm to pass me again, though. I only have Pavelski playing against the Rangers and Stastny (blanked tonight) playing against the Ducks. It's not going to be pretty.

EDIT: Here's the updated link.

The Los Angeles Kings play the Minnesota Wild tomorrow night; should be an interesting one (and hopefully better than the Vancouver Canucks game!)

So excited for the season. The Hawks pulled out a win in OT last night. I have tickets for the March 2015 game against the Carolina Hurricanes. Will definitely post pics after the game!

We hope you have a great time at the Hawks/Canes game next year. :)

So far, so good for LA after one period! Need to get at least a point to stop the Canucks and all other non-California teams from climbing! :P

Oh man, you'll have to make sure to report in after this game. I was a big Blackhawks fan as a young kid in the 80's and their original arena was probably the loudest in the league at the time. Chicago has awesome fans. Growing up in Toronto and now living in Vancouver, the bulk of my live NHL experiences have been in two of the sleepiest, most lackadaisical arenas in the league.

On that note, I beseech everyone to seek out and dig into their local junior leagues (any sport)! I know Kreegs will back me up, but if you want to get swept up in fandom, there is really no better place for fan camaraderie than at live minor league events.

I agree with this wholeheartedly.

In fact, one of the reasons I didn't immediately get excited about Kreegs's announcement that College games will be broadcast in Canada was because I'm spoiled by such a good local team—the Halifax Mooseheads of the QMJHL, home to Nathan Mackinnon, Jonathan Drouin, Jakub Voracek, Brad Marchand, and further back, Alex Tanguay and J.S. Giguere.

The quality of the games is excellent. You do see a bit of a divide between the NHL-bound youngsters and the ones who have basically topped out, but it makes for some fast games, with lots of displays of talent and goal-scoring by the former at the expense of the latter. :)

Enjoy the Hawks game, Ausden! I used to have no choice but to hate them, even though they were such an all-Canadian team, because of their divisional rivalry with the Red Wings, but now that the Wings have moved, I'm allowed to like them again.

I've been to a couple Riverman BCHL games at Langley Events Centre last season, both wins. Hopefully they rebound after a tough start this season. I remember my friends and I getting a McDonald's meal voucher (yeah MD is blah, but I think it's expected when going to lower level games/games that are cheap as dirt).

I think the concession is decent though, even if all that's there pretty much is chicken strips, fries, hot dogs... the general stuff.

When I lived in Cleveland, Ohio for a few years, some of the best sports to watch was the Lake Eerie Monsters (Colorado Avalanche minor league team). Those guys play for a spot in the big leagues so they leave everything out on the rink. I was even able to get my wife into the sport by taking her to those games.

Nice! We had the Calgary Flames farm team back in my home town for several years before they shipped out and we replaced them with another QMJHL team (Saint John Sea Dogs—where Nathan Huberdeau came from, and first Atlantic Canadian team to win the Memorial Cup). It was cool because you'd occasionally get to see NHL players who were sent back for conditioning or to recover from injuries, or maybe just folks who weren't playing very well. J.S. Giguere played for them, too (odd connection), and I remember one time they sent Mike Vernon back but he refused to suit up. :) What a dick.
