Dragon Warrior definitely has the "one guy with a sword setting off into the world on an unknown adventure" charm. That's a big part of what was so captivating about playing it as a kid.

Yeah! I found myself super engaged too, because all the villagers around the world were either informative, funny, or both. Good combo! I made sure to talk to each one, and by doing that, you can pretty easily beat the game without a guide. That's nice! I did pull one up just to double check some hunches (since backtracking isn't always trivial), but I was really pleased with how well the game points you in the right direction and rewards inquisitiveness.

Beaten:
1/11 - Ghosts'n Goblins (PS3 [Arcade])
2/5 - Turok (Switch)
2/8 - Garou: Mark of the Wolves (PSN [Arcade])
2/17 - Makaimura for WonderSwan (WonderSwan)
3/3 - Bust-A-Move Pocket (Neo Geo Pocket Color)
3/7 - Luigi's Mansion 3 (Switch)
3/10 - Night Trap: 25th Anniversary Edition (PSN [Sega CD])
3/22 - Marvel's Spider-Man (PS4)
3/23 - Dragon Quest (Switch [NES])
3/26 - Panzer Dragoon: Remake (Switch)

Beat Panzer Dragoon in a quick 59 minutes! Still as fun as I remember, and not quite as hard! PD1 is unquestionably less great than its successor, but it's still a fun game. I'm glad to have gotten to play through it again in such a pretty remake. This is sort of instantly the definitive version of the game, since it very faithfully ports the gameplay, the graphics (obviously) look way better than the Saturn, and the soundtrack has never sounded better.

I will say, this is an extremely straightforward remake. The only bell and/or whistle I can think of is the new photo mode. It also tracks stats, which I don't think the original did. Still, I'm just glad to see SEGA acknowledge the series at all. I'm happy the IP lives on.

Here's looking forward to the Zwei remake and, dare to dream, Saga.

Completed:
1/11 - Ghosts'n Goblins (PS3 [Arcade])
3/3 - Bust-A-Move Pocket (Neo Geo Pocket Color)
3/14 - Night Trap: 25th Anniversary Edition (PSN [Sega CD])

3/26 - Panzer Dragoon: Remake (Switch)
4/4 - Doom 64 (Switch)

Beat Doom 64! Very good game. It's more fun, more challenging, and more complex than Doom '93 (the only other one I've played appreciably). If anything my only complaint would be that it's a bit too hard. But I'm proud to have beaten it on "I own Doom!", it's second-highest difficulty. Looking forward to trying the new levels added to this version.

Completed:
1/11 - Ghosts'n Goblins (PS3 [Arcade])
3/3 - Bust-A-Move Pocket (Neo Geo Pocket Color)
3/14 - Night Trap: 25th Anniversary Edition (PSN [Sega CD])

Finished
Jan 03. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt (Switch)
Jan 10. Captain Toad Treasure Tracker DLC (Switch)
Jan 10. Defunct (Switch)
Jan 20. Outer Wilds (XBO)
Feb 14. Donut County (Switch)
Feb 22. Fire Emblem Three Houses: Cindered Shadows
Apr 04. Mighty Switch Force (3DS)

Busted out the old 3DS today to check out my old Animal Crossing town. Tried out a few old games, MSF included! All these years later this is still a really solid indie title, levels are short and sweet and the Switch mechanic feels really good.
