Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle: I beat the main game years ago and didn't end up perfecting half a dozen levels. Coming back to the main game and I really still enjoyed it. I also ended up beating the 8 DLC levels as well however I just added that to the DK DLC.

Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle - Donkey Kong Adventure: It's more the same but different in good and bad ways. Firstly you're stuck with the same 3 characters the whole game which does make it a bit of a bummer however 2 of them are brand new very unique characters which make the game fun. Gameplay wise it's very similar and that's a good thing however I did find the story to be a bit on the easy side. The last 4 challenges however were insanely hard especially Ultra Hard Challenge 2. I ended up needing to get a map of the level from the internet just so I could get a better layout of the whole area since the place is a maze.

Overall I got :B: and 2 :C: so I'm pretty happy and my Switch backlog is slowly shrinking. (6 games left, 5 of which I plan on beating).

PS4, 3DS/DS, Switch are my big focus this year. I really want to not have such a big backlog going into the next generation since I do tend to just abandon my old consoles. (My PS3 backlog is concerning)

Been enjoying some Resident evil action! Enjoyed both these titles. I might give the edge to Resident evil 2 but both were awesome.

Beaten:
1/1 - Tetris Effect (PS4)
1/5 - Yakuza 3 Remastered (PS4 [PS3])
1/15 - Altered Beast (Genesis Mini)
1/23 - Beyond Oasis (Genesis Mini)
1/25 - Sexy Parodius (Saturn)
2/3 - Captain Commando (Switch [Arcade])
2/5 - Gradius V (PS2)
2/19 - Dragon Quest IV: Chapters of the Chosen (DS [NES])
3/16 - Mr. Bones (Saturn)
3/25 - Ghosts 'n Goblins Resurrection (Switch)
4/6 - Yakuza 4 Remastered (PS4 [PS3])

Finally got around to writing blog posts for these clears, so I can finally update this thread. Both of these games were great, but I was especially fond of GnGR and I'm especially proud to have beaten it. I think it's the hardest game I've ever beaten, and it's gotta be up there with the all-timers, at least on Legend difficulty.

For GnGR, I also wrote a considerably longer-form review than I usually do (~2100 words!). Take a look if you want, but I can't guarantee quality since our buddy Kong didn't take his discerning red pen to it. The Yak 4 post is a shorter, lazier effort about another fun Tokyo crime game everyone should play.

Now I can finally focus on Hades and Monster Hunter. I expect one of those to be my next beat, but maybe I'll surprise myself.

Two more in the can for 2021. Hades kicked ass, and Dead Souls really didn't.

Really can't recommend Hades enough to fans of action games and also people who had given up on roguelites like me. It does so much right that other games I've tried haven't. Very, very good game. I understand why it's gotten GotY accolades now.

You can pass on Dead Souls though. That is unless you just wanna play 'em all like me. It's still a Yakuza game, just one with markedly worse gameplay. The zombie story is remarkably decent, though.

Saw this game for cheap in the small games section at a nearby used bookstore and thought I'd give it a shot for some nostalgia. I really liked its predecessor Agent Under Fire as a kid but never had this one. Fun little game! A bit clunky but not too long and has a passable spy story. Would've made a nice rental at the time and was well worth the $6 I paid for it.

Unravel 2 - The game didn't live up to the original personally. Maybe the fact it's suppose to be a two person game or the fact it isn't a unique concept anymore. I still enjoyed it but not as much as the original.

Yooka Laylee - I don't think it deserve the hate it gets however I also don't think it's anything amazing. I enjoy 3d platformers so I did have fun however there's way too many collectibles and the worlds are way too big that I get lost very easily. I'd have much preferred 10 small worlds than 5 expandable worlds.

Pokemon X - It's pokemon it adds a whole lot of nice stuff but I hated the rollerblades they made it really hard to control my character. Otherwise I love fairy type and think there's some really cool pokemon added in X&Y as well as it's one of the best stories personally. However pacing and leveling was way off. I beat the Elite 4 first try no issue something I'd never done before.

Hey! Pikmin - Move aside haters I love this game. I found it really relaxing (apart from 8-X) and a really fun game. It's a 3ds game so it's no masterpiece but for what it is it's great fun and I'm very glad I got it.

Captain Toad Treasure Tracker - I thought I finished this game years ago then found out I only finished Episode 1 of 3. I enjoyed the game a lot however the price point is a bit of a turn off. I'm curious how they translated the touch controls to switch.

Haven't played paper mario ttyd since I was around 10 years old or so. Great game, but my nostalgia definitely did a lot of the heavy lifting. The main thing that really sticks out to me how the level deign of the newer Paper Mario games far and away exceed this game. I'd also say the newer games are funnier.

But the main thing that's missed in New Paper Mario is the story and the characters, which are plentiful in this game. Almost to a weird degree, all the weird original characters stand out as a bit too different. But new Paper Mario is a bit too bland with it's characters, so a happy medium would be nice.

The battle system is great. Nice to go back to that style.
