That's pretty broad and implies false assumptions about Nintendo superiority. It's more likely we'll do a handful of platform-based side-events (best Sega game, best PlayStation game, best arcade game, etc.).

Well more so every game in the top 8 is on a nintendo console.

So it does seem like there's a huge Nintendo fanbase bias in the voting anyway.

Most of the games appear to be from the 80's/90's, so I'd say more people simply grew up with Nintendo than have a Nintendo bias.

But yeah, I'd say best game that's not Nintendo is way too broad in scope!

31 games from 2014 were nominated for the BGE!!! Project. I can certainly run that as the next three-round side-event (and I can try to post it tonight so it ends very early in the New Year).

Hey guys! For the first series-based side-event, I'm going to do Mario, since he had the most games nominated (by a lot, obviously). My basis for choosing which games to include is basically "they have Mario in the name" but I want your advice. Should I include the Smash Bros. games? They're obviously Mario spin-offs, but they're spin-offs, and if we're including spin-offs we might as well include the Wario, Yoshi, and Luigi's Mansion games.

Your thoughts?

Well I'd say Wario, Luigi's Mansion and Yoshi are spin offs that should be included, but I think Smash Bros. is a Nintendo spin off, not a spin off based in the Mario universe, which the others are.

With that said, I'd also be okay with just sticking to "Mario" titles.

Sure, they're spin-offs, but they're not Mario games (except for the ones that are: the first Wario Land game, Yoshi's Island, etc.).

I tend to agree with you. I'll exclude Smash as well.

Another vote for "exclude Smash". I almost wonder if a "Best Mario spinoff" side event would work, too. Still excluding Smash, of course.

The only reason I'm hesitant to launch a Best Mario side-event while the main event is still on is because of Super Mario Bros. 3 being in the finals. Seems like it wouldn't make sense for it not to win the side-event, too.

The other series with lots of representation are Pokémon, The Legend of Zelda, and Final Fantasy.
