SF put the lights out on Pittsburgh last night. The Giants will travel to [the city of] Washington to play the Nationals tomorrow.

Tonight features two intersting games: The Baltomore Orioles is hosting their divisional series against Detroit Tigers (2:30 PM PT), while the other game, The AL Wild Card winner (Kansas City Royals) will face Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim at 6 PM PT.

Well, the Baltimore Orioles pounded the Detroit Tigers today by a 12-3 margin (thanks to an ugly 8 run eight inning). Kansas City on the other hand, got themselves a 1-0 lead in their best of 5; a 3-2 win in 11 against the LA Angels.

Tomorrow, these four teams go at it again, while the NL Wild Card winner San Fran takes on the Nats; and the rematch of last year's NLCS is on... St. Louis starts on the road this time around at Dodger Stadium.

LA Dodgers and the Detroit Tigers blow leads to lose against St. Louis (game 1) and Baltimore (game 2), respectively. Each of the two losing teams blew their leads in the 7th and 8th innings.

Meanwhile, San Francisco holds off the Nationals (3-2) to take game one in their series. Kansas City and LA Angels were tied at a 1-1 score in game 2, heading to extra inning(s). Hosmer homers a two run shot in the 11th inning for KC, helping them win another extra innings game; putting the LA Angels in the same position as the Detroit Tigers... a 0-2 hole.

San Francisco has just taken a 2-0 series lead over the Nationals in 18. The latter team almost tied the series at 1-1, but a line drive / high fly ball towards left field helped the Giants tie the game itself at 1-1, and ironically almost gave themselves the lead, but Posey was called out on a close play. The Giants home run in the 18th inning helped them get a 2-1 win in game 2.

Los Angeles allowed the St. Louis Cardinals to come back from a deficit in the Top half of the 8th inning, but LA regained the lead and survives in game 2, with a 3-2 win; ties series at 1-1.

Detroit and Los Angeles Angels play elimination games against the O's and Royals tomorrow; both the Tigers and Angels are down 2-0 in their series against their opponents.

Baltimore Orioles completed their version of the Triple-O's sauce [sweeping to Detroit]; with a 6th inning 2-run HR... The Tigers made it interesting, cutting the lead in half (2-1, with tying run in scoring position). Unfortunately, they ended up exiting with another disappointing playoff season.

In the other game today, Kansas City has put an end to the LA Angels season (the latter had the best record in baseball!).

The American League Championship has been decided! The Kansas City Royals will play the Baltimore Orioles to decide which team goes to the World Series.

Both National League Divisional Series are on tomorrow -- WAS/SF at 5:00 ET; LAD/STL at 9:00 ET.

Washington Nationals win against San Fran tonight to keep their playoffs alive; St. Louis regains the series lead, with a 3-1 win at home over Los Angeles Dodgers.

Game 4 for both NLDS series is tomorrow. The ALCS starts Friday night for Kansas City and Baltimore.

The National League Championship has been decided, thanks to a pair of 3-2 victories in game 4 for the Giants and Cardinals in their respective NLDS series.

AMERICAN LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES

Game one starts Friday. Shields is slated to pitch for KC. Baltimore is not 100% on theirs!
-----
Game 1: KC blew leads of 4-0 and 5-1 early on (but that's mainly because of Shields and Finnigan), but they rebounded once again in extra inning(s), scoring three in the first extra (10th inning). Baltimore did cut it to a two run deficit after Holland quickly got two outs, but the Royals hang on with an 8-6 win! Game 2 on October 11.

Game 2: Cain from the Royals had a outstanding game going 4 for 5 in a back and forth game two. The two runs in the ninth by KC were the difference, as they take a 2-0 series lead with a 6-4 win.

NATIONAL LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES

Games 1 & 2: The San Francisco Giants win 3-0 by a dominate team performance, but Cards respond in game two with a game winning blast in crunch time to tie the series!

As a Chicago White Sox fan, I have to root for the AC Central team...Kansas City. It's been almost 30 years since they last one big game and would love to see them win again.

In the end however, as long as the Cardinals don't win it again I'll be happy.

Hehe, I'm not exactly cheering for any team, but I am in the position of cheering against the Orioles and the Cardinals. If KC keeps winning, then I'll have to see how I feel when the World Series comes around. :)
