So will there be computer players to supplement the users then?

Yeah, you race 8 matches against CPUs and your points get totaled up against other members point totals.

It's kind of an ugly format, but it's what Nintendo gave us, and it's kind of the only way an asynchronous tournament could work in some ways.

Got it. So we could have this tournament, and then maybe try to organize another where we are all playing live at a more specific time? I am not sure about the turn out though.

Yeah. To do what you're suggesting, we would need to organize a specific time and then have everyone join a friend game. That's not what the game refers to as a "tournament".

Aha. Well then it seems like we have already done just that! I like the current tournament and then we can just organize random meet up on here. I'll be on tonight again around the same time.

Aka if there's only 3 racers 1st gets 4 points 2nd gets 2 and 3rd gets 1. So after 8 racers the most point you can get is 32.

Where as if there's 10-12~ racer 1st gets 15 points and 6th-8th ish get 4 points.

So If I raced when there were 12 racers and came 5th everytime I'd scorer better then a person who raced in a group with 3 racers or even 4 and came 1st everytime.

So I think we should have more of a set time to play for the tournament otherwise it'll just be weird.
MK8 tournaments aren't games you generally play together. They're different from the online versus matches like the ones we were playing last night. Each person can log in any time they want while the tournament is open and get their 8 races in and the game keeps track of their points.

There will always be 12 racers in each race.
So we're racing CPU okay makes sense the reddit tournament didnt have CPU.

I've tried to race in the TONe tournament, but it doesn't seem to let you race as only non CPU. Not even if you bring a 'guest' along. As I gave up after a couple of minutes of waiting, I don't know if there's a minimum wait time for this. So if anyone has tried this also, and succeeded, what's the wait time? Or can't you race against CPU by yourself at all?

If noone else raced, I guess so ;)

Slurmee and I entered the tournament last saturday and completed the 8 race limit. As we couldn't race on our own (with only CPU), the limit seems to be 2 human participants on different systems. Anyone who wants to join the tournament, needs to find at least a second player to join them.

It takes about 30 minutes to complete 8 races with 2 players...

I looked at the standings about an hour before the end and we were the only ones there.
