I would welcome Battle-specific courses, even if they are not as amazing as the old Block Fort from N64. As long as they are not simply courses from racing modes...
Would you guys have thought battling on a race track much cooler if there were other real battle tracks and the real track was just one of the choices?

But the icons look exactly like grand prix icons, maybe they're new courses that will also be new linear battle mode coursesKong Wen wrote:That article also postulates that they could be battle mode specific courses, since all those course icons have been weapons in previous MK games.Kreegs wrote:Found a site that supposedly has images of the new cups! http://www.theepochtimes.com/n3/888984- ... d-trailer/
I would welcome some battle mode arenas.
I do want arena battle mode though, the track they have set up right now are boring. I wouldn't even mind if they just reused stages from other games.
EDIT: And Kreegs probably not, having the traditional battle stages in as well would just make the other stages look worse honestly :p

I really want more racing cups. I loved battle mode on the N64, but every game since then I have not really played the battle mode. Did you guys enjoy any of the battle modes on any game after N64?
For me, Block Fort on the 64 was as good as it got.

It looks like Tanooki Mario, Cat Peach, and Link will be coming to Mario Kart 8 in November, along with new karts and 8 new courses.
Sometime after that, Dry Bowser and some Animal Crossing characters will be coming, with even more karts and 8 new courses.
It sounds like they're going to be at least $10 per DLC pack.

I have question that someone with more DLC experience might be able to answer. When these new courses and karts come out, will they be playable online? How would it work if we could play them online since they are an optional purchase? I would hope that we could play them online!

Different companies tackle this in different ways. It's possible that you could play them online with other people who also have the DLC. It's possible the DLC could be "shared" allowing anyone to play them online if someone has them. Or it's possible they just won't enable them. It depends on how Nintendo is going to have the game rigged up.Kreegs wrote:I have question that someone with more DLC experience might be able to answer. Re: Mario Kart 8 Q/A
That makes sense. I have the feeling that they will want people to be able to play them online as a great marketing move. I can picture people racing against someone that is using Link and getting excited to go ahead and download the pack. Same thing with the tracks. Ideally for me, it would be very much how it is now if you are racing online and have not unlocked everything. I think the first time I played Kong we raced on some tracks that he hadn't unlocked yet.

Hopefully, Rawmeat's Raceway track is in the cards; I'd love to race on that glorious beard!Kong Wen wrote:http://www.joystiq.com/2014/08/26/link- ... -november/

But seriously, we need buses, monster trucks... among other things I didn't mention.

Really happy and surprised about this news though, did not expect non-Mario characters to be added to the game. Confirmation of new courses is great as well, being added 6 months after the release of the game seems a bit late but I guess it will remind people of the game when Smash comes out.
Price is good too, $8 a pack and $12 for both packs together, great deal! If you buy them in advance you get multicoloured Yoshi's and Shy Guy's.
