Last year, Nintendo president Satoru Iwata said a lot of words .
"From some people's perspective, it might seem like a kind of restriction. However, we hope people can appreciate the fact that we're selling our products worldwide," Iwata said at the time.
"There are many different regions around the world, and each region has its own cultural acceptance and legal restrictions, as well as different age ratings. There are always things that we're required to do in each different region, which may go counter to the idea that players around the world want the freedom to play whatever they want."
What an absolute load of bullshit. What nonsense is he implying here? That Nintendo could somehow be legally responsible if someone, through their own volition, imports a title that is culturally insensitive or legally unavailable in their own country? Doesn't this "argument" fall apart completely when one considers that German Nintendo players are free to import and play games deemed culturally insensitive or banned in Germany from the rest of Europe?
it wasn't even that difficult to get around doing this on the VC!
Nintendo was region free up until the DSi, I wonder if they ever fell into a lawsuit because of their games being region free.
I think they just want to control their market and don't want people importing games to get them months earlier than their region would regularily. Such a small percentage of people would do that though, and if they would just release games simultaneously they wouldn't need to worry about it.

The new 3DS was at TGS so some first impressions have started rolling in. So far I've only heard very positive things about the console. The C-stick doesn't have any sensitivity, it just recognizes direction. With that said it sounds like it will be used a lot for camera control and not much for any sort of aiming - but apparentlt it's quite comfortable.
Not necessarily new information, but with the new 3DS you'll be able to use Miiverse and the Internet browser while playing MH4U and Smash Bros, something you can't do right now. Also when using the new model load times in Monster Hunter will be reduced. I hope that's a trend from now on, that games on the new 3DS will have a better preformance than on the regular model without being entirely exclusive to the new version.

New 3DS has a 21st November AU/NZ release date. Eu and NA were mentioned that they weren't coming this year.
Unsure if I'll get one or not.

I don`t understand why they aren`t globally launching the product in 2014.

Because they don't want to cannibalize the special edition Smash/NES/Persona 3DS and transparent Pokemon 2DS units they still have to offload.

Also that Australia is in Asia Pacific (at least according to Nintendo)... Australia I guess doesn't count for overseas!

What ever the release dates it's still too soon for a new system anyway.
the DS had 7 years before the 3DS was released.
Now with the 3DS just 3 years in & gaining traction Nintendo more or less killed the 3DS before it started really get the sales it needed to succeed.
I even started a tread on Nintendolife discussing it.
the 3DS needed only 2 or 3 more years to give it the sales it can, just like the DS.

A more salient side of that point is that Australia & New Zealand use English, so they would have had to translate/localize system menu content for release there. I guess it's not much, but with that work done, there's not much else other than business in the way of a release in North America and Europe.

I've decided I'm hanging onto my 3DS until I need a New 3DS. Aka once there's 2-3 decent exclusives for it.
I think it's a pretty stupid move by nintendo to be honest.
