The final Boss was ball-busting, even with the final power-up. :( Was so happy when I beat it.

In Banjo and Kazooie I assume? I remember trying again and again but I just couldn't do it. I was only 7-8 at the time so I at least get some credit for making it that far :p

I think one of you gents should start up a new dedicated Banjo thread if you'd like to continue this conversation. :) Let's keep this thread focused on game-clearing accomplishments.

Just recently beat the Mysterious Stars series (8/18 I think).

Working on Amida's Path (DSiWare) and Demon King Box (3DS eShop; releases today), might start Squids Odyssey on the weekend.

Okay fiiiiineee, I guess we can stay on topic ;)

Beat:
Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask (3DS)
Mario and Luigi Dream Team (3DS)
Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze (Wii U)
Mario and Donkey Kong Mini's on the Move (3DS)
Pokemon X (3DS)
Bravely Default (3DS)
Kirby: Triple Deluxe (3DS)
Shovel Knight (3DS) x2
SteamWorld Dig (3DS) x2

Complete:
SteamWorld Dig (3DS)
Ittle Dew (Wii U)
Shovel Knight (3DS)
Super Mario 3D World (Wii U)

I beat SteamWorld Dig again today, I swear I'm not just beating all of my 2014 games all over again :p I started out speed running a little and ending up getting distracted and trying to grab all the ore so I beat it in 5 hours. There's a ranking screen at the end and I got two gold stars for collecting lots of ore and orbs, a silver star for having only 6 deaths, and a bronze star for my time. I'm wondering how much of a challenge it is to beat the game in as little time as possible while still getting lots of ore and orbs.

That wasn't a reprimand. It's a sincere invitation to open a new topic if there's a specific game or games you want to discuss. :)

One of the trophies in the PS version is to beat the game with 4 gold stars.

Judging from your accomplishments, it sounds like you'll have to (at least) beat it faster than 5 hours, dying less than 6 times, and getting as many gold and orbs as you did. How much of a challenge will that be? :)

I thought this was a good port of the SNES game that improved on it in certain aspects (auto saving for one). It was still very hard and I only got 61% cleared. The graphics probably wouldn't have been so much fun to play with on a non backlit unit but were thankfully nice and clear on the GB Boy.

Are the Donkey Kong Land games any good? I know they are monochrome but just wondering how they compare.

2/1 - Peggle 2 (Xbone)
2/11 - Devil May Cry (360 [PS2])
2/16 - The Walking Dead (Vita)
2/21 - NBA Jam (360)
2/26 - Strider (Genesis)
3/2 - Strider (Xbone)
3/6 - Shaq-Fu (Genesis)
3/8 - Ratchet & Clank (PS3 [PS2])
3/13 - Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus (PS3 [PS2])
3/14 - PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale (PS3)
3/15 - MediEvil (PSOne Classics)
3/18 - Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes (Xbone)
3/25 - Metroid: Zero Mission (GBA)
3/27 - Earthworm Jim HD (XBLA)
4/17 - Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze (Wii U)
4/19 - Ratchet & Clank: Going Commando (PS3 [PS2])
5/30 - Mario Kart 8 (Wii U)
6/20 - Dragon's Lair (PC [ARC])

7/4 - Wolfenstein: The New Order (PC)
7/17 - F-Zero: Maximum Velocity (3DS [GBA])
8/4 - Kirby: Triple Deluxe (3DS)
8/6 - Kirby's Dream Land 2 (3DS [Game Boy])
8/8 - Marlow Briggs and the Mask of Death (PC)
8/23 - Akiba's Trip: Undead & Undressed (Vita)

This has to be the dumbest (and most embarrassing, without a doubt) game I have ever beaten. Certainly that I've ever paid full price for. Still, I wanted something weird, and I got it. Plus, it generally seemed to self-aware of its ridiculous premise and niche audience (the protagonist is frequently called a loser).

The combat, contrary to what I read before purchasing the game, was actually pretty decent, I thought. Lots of potential for a big multi-baddie finisher, which I'm a fan of.

The story was complete bonkers anime bullshit, but that's fine with me. It's what I expected. I'll also giving it credit for actually making me laugh a good bit of the time. Half of it was at absurdity, but the other half was legitimate humor. The game also has a good amount of referential humor, which usually bothers me, but I found it generally fit the context and wasn't super hamfisted.

Anyway, I liked the game and may actually be interested in NG+ (only took me about 7 hrs to finish). I feel like the admission that I like this game probably indicates a need for some introspection, but nevertheless, I guess I got my money's worth.

Edit: Oh, also just an interesting fact: after beating this game, I received only 16 bronze trophies. Not a single silver or gold. Go figure.

Completed:
2/16 - The Walking Dead (Vita)
2/26 - Pac-Man: Championship Edition (XBLA)
3/10 - Ratchet & Clank (PS3 [PS2])
3/15 - MediEvil (PSOne Classics)
8/6 - Kirby's Dream Land 2 (3DS [Game Boy])

PBA Standard Goals:
1/4 - Gorgar
8/10 - The Machine: Bride of Pin-Bot

Ah yes now I understand ;) Maybe I'll try it out the next time I play it.

Beat:

Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask (3DS)
Mario and Luigi Dream Team (3DS)
Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze (Wii U)
Mario and Donkey Kong Mini's on the Move (3DS)
Pokemon X (3DS)
Bravely Default (3DS)
Kirby: Triple Deluxe (3DS)
Shovel Knight (3DS) x2
SteamWorld Dig (3DS) x2
Liberation Maiden (3DS)

Complete:
SteamWorld Dig (3DS)
Ittle Dew (Wii U)
Shovel Knight (3DS)
Super Mario 3D World (Wii U)

Liberation Maiden is an extreamly short game (5 levels - 10 mins each), but the game play itself is actually pretty solid. I think they could make a bigger game out of it if they added some more elements to it, maybe have a few levels with different mech suits. Anyways I bought the game when it was $3 because I knew it was short so no surprise there. I think I might go back just to mess around with the score attack mode.
