New 3DS has launched in Japan already, it seems like it improves the overall 3DS experience. It works with some games that were circle pad pro compatable (MH3U) but not on others (Kid Icarus Uprising). It doesn`t seem to improve the preformance of older games, but does affect games that were developed with the new 3DS in mind. Both Smash Bros. and Monster Hunter 4U experience faster start up times and loading times within the games themselves.
Probably expecting the N3DS system to reduce the clock speed to match in with the 3DS clockspeed to ensure maximum compatibility.
Just like how the 3DS reduces the clock speed to 67 & 33MHZ to match in with the DS/DSi's clock speed to make sure the games running at the right speed.
Plus this shows this system is an actual 3DS successor not another 3DS model in itself.

I wonder If Nintendo added sound support for those HTML5 games, something that's normally lacking with most NetFront browsers Including the Wii U.
Infact stock standard NetFront doesn't support HTML5 video yet Nintendo added that feature to there version.
It would be nice If Nintendo added PDF support to the N3DS broweser.
Plus I would be nice if they added support of Music files (MP3, AAC, MIDI, Ect)

What about the headphone output.
I needed to turn up my sound system nearly full just so I can hear it, something that needed improvement.

I wouldn't know, not much of a tech guy myself. If the Wii U browser doesn't have it I'm thinking the 3DS probably doesn't either, but I haven't heard of any sound complaints for the games.
And yeah, even with headphones the system has low audio, hopefully that's a bit louder too.

Got a mail today from Nintendo Europe about an Ambassador Edition of the new 3DS. Aside from the fact that I can't get logged in to view the information page, I wasn't really interested in this version due to the information in the mail itself. A little later, I read a post on
NintendoLife with more info on this edition:
Nintendo Europe is giving loyal fans the chance to purchase a New Nintendo 3DS before the official launch of the system.
Emails are being sent out to some Club Nintendo members in the UK right now -- you may have already had one -- which offer the chance to purchase a special Ambassador Edition bundle for £179.99. According to Nintendo, the consoles are ready to ship within 3-5 days.
This special bundle includes:
- New Nintendo 3DS Ambassador Edition Bundle system in White - Value of £155.99
- An exclusive Ambassador Edition Cover Plate (Back)
- An exclusive Ambassador Edition Cover Plate (Front) - Value of £7.67
- New Nintendo 3DS Ambassador Edition Bundle stylus
- 4 GB microSDHC memory card
- A set of AR Cards
- A Quick-Start Guide
- An Operations Manual
- A set of front and back Super Smash Bros. cover plates - Value of £7.67
- A charging cradle for the console in White - Value of £7.67
When I decide to get a 'new 3DS', I want a black XL version .. not a white 'normal' version. I don't care for the front- and back- plates and I never used the cradle that came with my original 3DS. And what about the games?? There's still no reason to get this 'new' handheld.

Get it, sell it to a ravenous Nintendo fan, and use the $$ to buy yourself one of the black XLs.

Yeah Merlin definitely get it, you can sell it for a pretty penny afterwards.

Was also lucky to get an email today about the New 3DS Ambassador Edition. Not a good time of the year, when you are trying to save up, although I sort of dislike white consoles anyway. I am tempted to get one, and make a decent profit on Ebay, or buy it as an investement to sell at a later date?

My instinct is it would have more value if sold immediately, to capitalize on the launch hype and fewer people having one. As more time passes, more people will get them, be less interested in the exclusive stuff (faceplates), and Nintendo will possibly release even more revisions etc. thus decreasing the value.

Just like defective Amiibo's, when they started appearing winning bids endded up being pretty high

I'm not a seller and I don't think I would be able to sell this locally. Demand seems higher in southern europe. Anyway, the asking price is the same as the sum of the parts, so there's no benefit or profit for getting it this early (except for the timing).
And personally, I'm not interested in getting the system at the start. Let them first produce good reasons to make me want one.
- NFC is interesting, but aside from Smash not supported yet by other games (and I don't Smash on 3DS).
- Extra circular analog 'stick' on the right is nice, but the games that can use it is limited.
- Inside camera used for adjusting 3D experience is a good feature, if I would use 3D a lot.
- Changable front- and back-covers? Why would I want to change those if they are the right (non-)colour?
- Afaik, only one game was announced that can't run on a regular 3DS and I'm not interested in the game.
At some point, I'll want one for sure. But by that time it might as well be a black New 2DS XL.

I would be in a similar boat, I really want the new 3DS XL so this would kind of be a stick in my plans. I'd probably buy it anyways
Crazy that people are already getting these delivered at their homes!
