Top team playing a team that doesn't even deserve to be in the playoffs.

This is one of the reasons this season has been so boring. There are a lot of non-competitive teams. It feels like there are too many teams in the playoffs, just to make it longer and make $$$, although this hasn't been as much of a problem in the past.

Every year I bitch about the length of the season and the playoffs. Especially with the games being played in a 9am-3pm time slot here it takes a lot of effort to watch a 7 game series. I usually watch game 1 and 2 then get bored around 3 and 4 then get interested again when a team has 3 wins.

I still have no idea how that puck went in for the Dallas 3rd goal.

I think the first series should be a best of 5. It really does get too long. I walked to the game last night without a jacket in Minnesota. People were wearing shorts at the game. That is not something I think of when I think of hockey in general.

The biggest problem I see with how the league is set up is there is really very very very little reward for doing well in the regular season other than possibly getting an easy first round opponent (ie Washington)

Where as in the say NFL you do well you get a bye and home field advantage. Sure in the NHL you get 4 home games and 3 away but I really don't see that as much of an advantage. I'd even go as far as saying having home advantage in Game 3 and 4 is better as they're the more important games than 1 and 2.

But sadly Americans and Canadians still pay to see the games so the league wont change shit.

You guys are maniacs. Who wants less playoff hockey? If they wanted to shorten the season, then they should shave off some of the regular season, IMO.

Don't lump me in with these jerks! ;) I just said it feels like there are too many teams because so many of them suck this year, including my own team. The first round is just a trash clearance. It's not usually like that.

But I agree with you Detroit is trash

So far the scores are.

Dallas 2 - 1 Minnesota :D
St. Louis 3-1 Chicago :D
Nashville 2-1 Anaheim :D
San Jose 2-1 Los Angeles :ugeek:

Florida 2-1 NY Islanders :ugeek:
Tampa Bay 3-1 Detroit :D
Washington 3-0 Philadelphia :D
Pittsburgh 2-1 NY Rangers :ugeek:

Not a single team I want to lose is winning a series (except St. Louis but I want Chicago to lose more)

That is a way better idea. Shorter season, same playoffs.

5 series has a team with 3 wins in it now. It's getting to the nitty gritty part of the series.

Surely Washington will bounce back.

Can Dallas finish off Minnesota I'd have them as favorites but they seem flaky.

Haven't watched a Lightning/Wings game but from Kongs reaction it looks to be like Lightning have it in the bag.

Chicago are insane so I wouldn't be shocked if they grit their way back to a Game 7.

San Jose seem to be on top of LA but again haven't watched that series either.

Penguins/Rangers, Ducks/Preds and Panthers/Isles look like fun competitive series.
