Welcome to the first round of #BGE2020 pools!

Each game is randomly seeded into pools using the set generator at Random.org. There's no seeding, no ranking, and no preference or prioritization.

The results of the pools will determine how each game stacks up in the elimination rounds, coming later this year.

HOW TO VOTE

Voting is ranked, but it's not super intuitive, so listen up.
  • You have 6 total votes to distribute.
  • You can only select up to 3 options.
  • You can only give each option up to 3 votes.
  • NOTE: The number you pick is not the RANK of your choice (i.e. 1st, 2nd, 3rd), but the number of VOTES you're giving it.
  • The more votes (bigger numbers) a game gets, the better for that game.
EXAMPLES
  • You could pick three games and order them by giving them 3, 2, and 1 votes.
  • If you like three games equally, you could give them 2, 2, and 2 votes.
  • If you only like two games, you could give them 3 and 3 votes (or 3 and 2, etc.).
This gives you a lot of granularity for how you assign your votes and thereby a lot of influence over which games can do well. Use your power wisely!

If you have questions, ask before voting! :neon:

I thought To the Moon was a little overwrought to be honest, but it's the best of the decent games in this bracket that I have any measurable experience with. Final Fantasy IX is one of the weaker entries in the series—the first to lean way too heavily on Square's now-characteristic navel-gazing nostalgia—but even a weaker mainline FF game is a pretty good game.

I'm playing through FFIX right now for the first time. While I'm enjoying it there's a lot that's really really annoying. Game mechanic wise barely anything is explained. I just seem to have to know what items do and what each status is. Unlike pokemon the game doesn't seem to say "X character has been poisoned" it'll just havea symbol and there's so many different status. Then don't start me on abilities nothing explained at all. I'm basically leaning heavily on the guide which is annoying. Then on top of things a lot of spells just seem to never hit certain characters (even the scan ability).

Also I don't mind the Active battle system but the fact that I can input a move and it doesn't always go off before my opponents attack or other team mates attacks makes it even more. This becomes really frustrating when reviving someone to 1-8hp then hoping the next person can get their heal in fast enough.

That being said I'm really enjoying the game and am at the end of disc 2 right now.

It's been a while since I played FFX but I don't remember having these issues with it. Maybe I'm just becoming to use to modern day mechanics.

Voted 3 for FFIX, 1 for Pikmin 3

Shadow Hearts: Covenant is one my my most favorite games of all time. I miss it terribly.

Nintendo Land is straight up some of the most fun I've had with local multiplayer.

Nintendo Land had a lot of potential, and I really wanted to enjoy it more than I did. I was really generous with it, but its particular ship had already sailed for most of my friends by the time it came out.
