#BGE2020 - Round 2 - Pool 17

Post by This Old Neon »

Welcome to the second round of #BGE2020 pools!

Each game is randomly seeded into pools using the sequence generator at Random.org. There's no seeding, no ranking, and no preference or prioritization.

The results of the pools will determine how each game stacks up in the elimination rounds, coming... realistically in early 2021.

HOW TO VOTE

Voting is ranked, but it's not super intuitive, so listen up.
  • You have 6 total votes to distribute.
  • You can only select up to 3 options.
  • You can only give each option up to 3 votes.
  • NOTE: The number you pick is not the RANK of your choice (i.e. 1st, 2nd, 3rd), but the number of VOTES you're giving it.
  • The more votes (bigger numbers) a game gets, the better for that game.
EXAMPLES
  • You could pick three games and order them by giving them 3, 2, and 1 votes.
  • If you like three games equally, you could give them 2, 2, and 2 votes.
  • If you only like two games, you could give them 3 and 3 votes (or 3 and 2, etc.).
This gives you a lot of granularity for how you assign your votes and thereby a lot of influence over which games can do well. Use your power wisely!

If you have questions, ask before voting! :neon:

Bloodborne is the only game of its type that I've liked so far. I bet I'll like Sekiro, but I've not played it yet. Really appreciate the increased speed and focus on offense. Made a world of difference for me.
You got BOOST power!

This is me abstaining. I’ve never played any of these.
No more nightmares, I’ve seen them all. From the day I was born, they’ve haunted my every move.

I've never played anything here, but I gave Portal a point out of respect for what it tried to do. I can't play first person games, myself.

Portal (3)
Close to a perfect game really.

Wew, this is a killer bracket. I was really close to not giving Portal or Bloodborne any votes.

I had to give max votes to Path of Radiance for being one of the best overall tactical games of all time. Then the plan was to give runner-up votes to Nibbles, which is an amazing QBASIC snake game. It kills me that I convinced myself not to vote for it here after I think giving it max votes last round. But I figured it would be fine, so I better focus on helping out some crappier games instead.

Finally settled on giving Portal the runner-up votes, and tossing Bloodborne my last remaining vote, since Portal is better than Bloodborne.

Yup. I can watch others play them just fine. Put me in control, and I'll get a bit dizzy within 20 minutes or so. I respect what some games in that viewpoint achieve, but I can't play them. I won't even try anymore.

Aww man that sucks. It's not my favorite genre but there's still a handful of really great games.

That being said it looks like the fps genre especially has reached its peak and is leaning more towards 3rd person these days.

FPS never really interested me to begin with. Closest thing I'm really missing is the Metroid Prime trilogy.
