#BGE2020 - Round 2 - Pool 261

Post by This Old Neon »

Welcome to the second round of #BGE2020 pools!

Each game is randomly seeded into pools using the sequence generator at Random.org. There's no seeding, no ranking, and no preference or prioritization.

The results of the pools will determine how each game stacks up in the elimination rounds, coming... realistically in early 2021.

HOW TO VOTE

Voting is ranked, but it's not super intuitive, so listen up.
  • You have 6 total votes to distribute.
  • You can only select up to 3 options.
  • You can only give each option up to 3 votes.
  • NOTE: The number you pick is not the RANK of your choice (i.e. 1st, 2nd, 3rd), but the number of VOTES you're giving it.
  • The more votes (bigger numbers) a game gets, the better for that game.
EXAMPLES
  • You could pick three games and order them by giving them 3, 2, and 1 votes.
  • If you like three games equally, you could give them 2, 2, and 2 votes.
  • If you only like two games, you could give them 3 and 3 votes (or 3 and 2, etc.).
This gives you a lot of granularity for how you assign your votes and thereby a lot of influence over which games can do well. Use your power wisely!

If you have questions, ask before voting! :neon:

530 polls later, 53 weeks later, here we are, at the end of the preliminary double round of pools. The results of these pools will be used to determine the bracket order for the double-elimination round. What a long and entertaining journey. I bet the elimination rounds will take us even longer, unless we find a way to have more polls active at any given moment. Maybe I'll create an "active polls" subforum, and then move the inactive/expired ones out of it every week... That way people will know to just go through everything they can see.

Anyway, this last batch of pools has a lot of last-minute nominations, so it may be tinted by recency bias, or desperation. Overall quality looks to still be decent though. Happy voting, happy explaining, and I'll catch you in the first wave of eliminations in a week... or two... depending on how much time I need to set aside for setup. <3 :neon:

I feel bad for not being able to spare a single vote for the weird Vanillaware virtual-novel-RTS game I nominated. But I gotta give the OG Mortal Kombat full votes, second vote to the excellent old-school arcade Popeye game, and my final vote to the ridiculous Cho Aniki naked-man-shmup.

Full votes for MK1 eh? I'm a big MK (series) fan, and I still only gave it 2. Curious why it got 3 from you. Cultural impact? Played a lot growing up? Just think it's that good?
You got BOOST power!

It is a combination of several factors, many of which you touched on. While MK2 might be a better game overall (barely IMO), the OG has a lot of cultural and genre impact for sure, and I have more nostalgia for it, and it's a weakish enough pool that I had enough votes in my votewallet for it here.
