I’ll be playing Dragon Quest III again soon and thought I’d get votes on what kind of run to do. All jesters, all merchants, or solo? What do you think?

Absolutely jesters! You want a fun challenge, and this will prompt you to discover some fun new tricks and exploits to cover for the inadequacies of your team.

That would be definitely the most challenging of the three and it's the way I'm leaning as well. I want to do a money-grubbing bastard run to see how wealthy I can get as well as a solo run someday so hence the poll.

My DQ3 jester run is going well. I’m steadily chipping away at this. I finally got the ship so now I’m wandering. Boo that the Bozo image got whacked. Let’s try this one:

I tragically had to restart my jester run. Am level 3 and saving for the best equipment I can get before tackling the first dungeon

You gonna grab the remake later this year and try any other playthroughs? Could be fun!

Yeah I’ll do my money-grubbing bastard all merchants run on the remake (with Adam Smith, Ayn Rand, and John Keynes).

I did clear the first dungeon and got the thief’s key!

Okay so I got my clowny hands on a ship! Am level 16 and about to start exploring the world. I’m enjoying the heck out of this. I’ll be able to happily do a merchant run this winter I believe.

Am up to level 21 now. I’ve got the final key and one orb. Exploring and seeing what I can get away with doing at my level

I beat Orochi’s first fight!!! She’s that hydra in Jipang. I haven’t beaten her twice yet but I should be able to. My hero is level 31 and my clients are all level 30. It was a tough fight and one of my clowns got killed (Bozo).

Am up to four orbs out of six. I think four anyway…
