I also thought the Dorne scene was silly. But, like Shoe, I think Bronn has a self-awareness about it all that I really enjoy. When they were all arrested, and he was just smiling the whole time. Love that guy. I also like how the show always has him singing, since Jerome Flynn was a singer in a past career:

I thought the Winterfell scene was fine. I don't see why anyone would find it unexpected. They know what kind of character Ramsay is. I also don't think it's possible for anyone to say it's "unnecessary" at this point because we don't know what the writers are using that scene for yet. Sansa is an emotional focal point of this show, and for all we know, they're using her character to set up a payoff in Winterfell (either a payoff or to set expectations for one that can then be subverted).

I also agree with Shoe that they're finally making good use of Theon. He's been boring for the past two seasons, but the tension and inner conflict and self-hatred is actually being leveraged well now.

Jorah's scene was great. Especially because of the use of the term "cock merchant".

Nice surprise to see him singing "A Dornishman's Wife", I think that's three songs now along with "The Bear and the Maiden Fair" and "The Rains of Castamere". Not sure if there are any other big songs from the novels. Didn't know about his previous singing career though!

You didn't care for Theon in season 3? I can see the torture getting repetitive, but it was interesting seeing what was for the most part only hinted at in the books. With how season 4 went I was thinking they might just slowly get rid of the Greyjoys but this last episode was a good resurgence for Theon. The one thing I'll give the Winterfell story line credit for is that putting Sansa there creates an interesting dynamic for Theon. Like when he went to escort Sansa to her wedding; he was ashamed talking to her because of what he did to her family, but he still has to do what Ramsay tells him to do. Felt bad for him when Sansa refused his escort.

Episode 7 - Bronn finished his song!

I enjoyed the episode tonight, thought for the most part it was well adapted and characterization felt good. Aemon was a fine scene, standout moment at the wall this week.

They totally fooled me with the Theon scene, I really thought he was going to just light the candle. I liked Sansa and Theon's interaction, hope to see more in the future. I think the handled the aftermath of the sex scene last week well in this episode. From what I get from it, Sansa thinks it can't get any worse than it already is, and it turn feels like she can talk back to Ramsay, only to then see her friend flayed.

I didn't care for Tyrion finally meeting Danny. I know the meat of the interaction will be in the episodes to come, but the whole situation was a little weird to me. I thought they wanted to give Tyrion to a cock Merchant? I didn't really buy the whole Tyrion beating up the slaver thing. But with the fighting part, what was the point of all the slaves killing each other, wouldn't it be more profitable to keep all the slaves they just bought and put them in the pits instead of only the one victor? And why was Danaerys okay with watching slaves fight, and being okay with putting slaves in the fighting pits when she always said she wouldn't have any slaves in the pits? Why was the gate unlocked? So that Tyrion and Jorah could jump out? The logic involved was all very loose, and it was all done just so that Tyrion could meet Danny in a lack luster way.

Interesting that she snuffed Jorah though, I think book Danny would have welcomed the sight of him. Different characters for sure, just interesting that they went that route with Danny.

High Sparrow continues to shine in every scene he's in, so I enjoyed King's Landing this week. Still not sure about Littlefingers plan. Seems like they're trying to make him look like he's a double agent to everyone.

They did, until they were offered money for him by the other guy. They don't care who pays them, as long as he's worth something to them.

Maybe if you try to enter shitty fighters into the big tournaments, you become a laughing stock and can't enter any more fighters? Maybe each person is only allowed to enter a few fighters and they want to enter the best so they can win bigger payouts. There are a lot of contextual elements that shouldn't have to be explained for this to make sense.

She doesn't know they're slaves.

Didn't the guy become flustered when he saw Dany in the stands and forget to lock the door?

Minor critiques aside (which is all they are really, it's just nice to have a place where I can voice these minor critiques) the purpose of the scene was to get Tyrion to meet Danny, which I found to be lackluster for such a meeting  You're right about the gate though, missed that!

Other points from this episode: I kind of liked it when Stannis got mad at Mel for suggesting to burn his daughter. It was a nice follow up to their scene together back in the forth episode. Also, I found it interesting that Margery was staying in such a dirty cell, parrallel to jaime staying in a nice spacious one. High Sparrow means business.

I liked that Jaime was staying in a nice suite while poor Bronn was staying in a real dungeon.

Amazing episode. Arya, Jon, Cersei, & Dany's scenes were excellently played. And of course the huge spoiler at the end was awesome. Especially when spoiler spoilers the spoiler, and then spoiler spoilers everyone.
