Today is the supposed launch date of Steam's (in)famous Summer Sale for 2014.

Tonight's Flash & Community Choice sales cracked my 2014 Summer Sale wallet virginity. I picked up the Shadowrun Returns deluxe upgrade and the Dragonfall DLC (so I should have the complete version of the game now), and I also snagged Risk of Rain for $2.49.

It seems like most of the games that are still on my wishlist are getting kind of crappy sales so far, but that's probably because they're newish games that don't deserve deep cuts yet, or they're niche games/bundles that won't get front-page deal attention.

Banished has been getting a lot of buzz around here from PR and Kiwi. It's 50% off today, but I'm not sure I can bite on it even at that price. I guess I can wait for 75% off this winter or something.

I've just snagged Marlow Briggs (at Spore's semi-recommendation), as well as One Way Heroics (I don't know anything about it, but it's under $1 and a couple friends on Steam seem to be liking it) and ORION: Dino Horde (tonight's flash sale—looks like a pretty fun silly shooter, could possibly take Gotham City's place in my heart).

Baldur's Gate II: Enhanced Edition is one of the daily deals today. It's down to $6.24 from $24.99. In 2012, it was ranked the 132nd BEST GAME EVER!!!

Today is also the last day for the Steam summer sale metagame.
