This had to be Doom II for me....an amazing game that still holds up today. I wonder how many hours I've spent on it...
I never thought I would feel this way, but now I know. Now I know. I never thought I would see things as I see them now, but now I know. I never thought I would hurt so bad, but now I know. Now I know.

While I can't give it my vote here, the original Metroid is an OK game. It suffered from some platforming repetition, but I give it points for not including a map or mapping features—this is exploration done right.

I have to cast a vote for Doom II, which is one of the seminal entries in a genre I don't normally like. This one was actually fun, something a lot of the later knock-offs (Quake) lacked for me. Lots of fun with friends with this one in junior high.

The other game to get my vote is Rock Band. This game brings friends together, regardless of skill levels, to bond over something that's so inherent to our social natures: music. This is one of those games that's just pure fun, plain and simple.

For Super Mario Bros. 2, are we talking about the American version or "the lost levels" Japanese version?

Judging by the release date I'd say say the American version. The one with Birdo.

No contest here in my mind. Doom II gets a single vote from me. Fun, gory, massive, genre-defining gameplay and hard as hell. One of the most significant games in this contest.

I do expect Metroid to put up a good fight, and Rock Band is a significant game, but the Guitar Hero series was always the one my friends and I flocked to.

The lost levels Japanese version would be titled Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels, so this is the western version.

I absolutely adore Super Mario Bros. 2, and Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 is possibly my favorite Kombat.

Mario 2 is just... so good. I think there's probably a nostalgia contribution as well. It was one of my first Marios, and it was one that I really dug into and beat all by myself. I found all the warp zones and nuances without external assistance and was really proud of that. And the Overworld theme is among the best in Mario. Classic.

If it had been Galaga instead of Galaxian, I would definitely have voted for it instead of MK, though. I hope Galaga awaits in one of the later polls!

Super Mario Bros 2 was great for its time. Multiple characters with different abilities and just the general weirdness of it all when compared to the others in the series.
