Demon's Souls is my only vote in this bracket. It's not the best Souls game, but it's a masterpiece nonetheless. If anything, the rougher edges make the game feel more raw and somewhat scarier. The characters are ambiguous and creepy and the voice acting is amazing. The Souls series's famous battle system is already fully realized here—weapons have real heft, and you have to think carefully about your actions lest you risk exposing yourself to enemy counterattacks. The world is sad, forsaken, and hopeless, and this comes through not just in the dialogue, but in the appearance, flavour text, and basic feel of everything. Atmosphere done right.

I've played a lot of the games on here but oddly have difficulty deciding which, if any, to vote for. This is probably one of the first polls in which I might abstain from voting even though I've played a good number of these.

Pokemon blue/red are fantastic games and such a long amazing story for an orginal game boy game.

I definitely want to vote for Banjo-Tooie, but I don't know about a possible 2nd. I think I'll vote later.
Meanwhile, I think Red/Blue are seriously flawed games that I wouldn't touch again today, but it started a series I still enjoy (albeit mostly out of nostalgia). I hate to not vote for it, but I just don't think it's good enough.

Pokemon Blue/Red is the first game that I got really enthralled by, and actually managed to beat. Magic Nostalgia.
And uh.. Demon's Souls is cool I suppose, I'll get my vote as well.

Demon's Souls gets an unusual vote here since I kind of don't like it, and take serious issue with a lot of it's elements, but can absolutely appreciate it for what it was. Not to mention it laid the groundwork for two of my personal picks for BGE.

That's my problem with Red/blue as well. They started a good series, and they were good for their time, but in retrospect they are the worst games in their respective series. The series has mostly become better with time.

Plus Ghost type was totally busted (in a bad way), and there was no physical/special split, even in the goofy way it was done in Gen III. Wouldn't play it again today for any reason, which isn't the case with many other series I've played. Is kind of a trend with RPGs, though.
