Re: Round 4, in which we steal
Curtain Call is my favourite game on possibly my favourite console ever. So many song, so much content, online battles. Absolutely love that game. They really listened to feedback on the original game and improved just about everything.
I suspect I'll be the only person voting for Football Manager 2010. I possibly spent maybe 500-700 hours on that game. Taking non-league basement teams all the way to Champions League glory. I'd often just look at my save file and scroll through everything remembering all the stories the game had given me; the heroes, the villains, the superstars and the wasted potential. There'll probably not be a game like it for me ever again. I miss being a student!
Smash 64 is well... Smash. It's pretty archaic these days and has so little content. But back in the day it was absolutely amazing.

I really need to take VVVVVV for a good spin before I vote on this one.

Oh darn I missed VVVVVV. That's a great game.

Re: Round 4, in which we steal
VVVVVV is one of my favourite games. There are other retro-vanias. There are other games that try to use an interesting mechanic to shake up the platformula. VVVVVV is among the best of both of those groups combined into one stylish package. It's also widely available, so no one should have an excuse for not having played it.
I also voted for Ms. Pac-Man, for reasons articulated repeatedly before. This game may eventually come into a bracket against stronger competition where I have to think long and hard about not voting for it, but that time has not yet come.
My third vote was for DOOM, for its significant impact on the development of the FPS. This is when I first realized I would be a terrible FPS player (the controls started to become sophisticated).

I'm going with VVVVVV because cavanagh is a genius
I'm going with Mass Effect 2 because it's one of the few RPGs I've been compelled to beat twice.
And I'm going with Doom because FPS was once Doom-clone

Re: Round 4, in which we steal
Doom gets a courtesy vote for importance, though its sequel will get more out of me in the long haul. Ms. Pac Man gets a vote for reasons explained earlier. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to get to VVVVVV, so I need to refrain this time around.

Re: Round 4, in which we steal
Maybe I should try VVVVVV again. I liked it, but I wasn't blown away by it. Not sure if playing on the "infinite lives" mode depreciated my enjoyment of the game.

You're supposed to have infinite lives. When you die you instantly respawn at your latest checkpoint. One of the game's smart design elements. The Shoemaker wrote:Maybe I should try VVVVVV again.
