Round 4 tie-breaker: FALSE WITNESS

A five-way tie misrepresents the BGE to the public. How can one game be the best ever if we appear to love five equally? Let us stop lying to ourselves and others and pick one game from this list.
1987 - Phantasy Star - SMS
1991 - Sonic the Hedgehog - Genesis/MD
1997 - Fallout - PC
2003 - Fire Emblem - GBA
2014 - Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze - Wii U

Two of my picks are stuck in here (Phantasy Star and Fire Emblem) and another strong candidate (Fallout), but when I'm forced back to one vote, I have to go with the original, influential, and quality Phantasy Star. There are better tactical games than Fire Emblem, including the already-eliminated Warsong, and FE shouldn't advance too much farther than them.

I'm chiming in for Phantasy Star yet again. Few games manage to capture the epic scale of this game especially considering they couldn't use movies and symphonic soundtracks as games often do today when they're trying to feel big.
I've beaten it three times now and each time success felt amazing.

Part of me wanted to vote for PS based on what it is, as I love jrpgs, but I've barely played it, so my vote goes to Sonic.

I think they should get scrapped. They had two chances to resonate and stand out with the voters in a meaningful way and failed.

I agree with you. This is essentially a tooth-and-nail fight for third place.
