Mar 28. Super Mario 64 DS
Mar 30. Kirby's Dream Land 3 (NSO SNES)
Apr 13. Super Mario Advance 4: Super Mario Bros. 3 (NSO GBA)
Apr 27. Fire Emblem Engage (Switch)
Apr 29. Cadence of Hyrule (Switch)
May 07. Super Mario Galaxy 2 (Wii U)

Been wanting to replay Mario Galaxy 2 ever since the original made its way to Switch. I don't know if I'm as high on it as I once was - still a great game of course. I do really like that they ditched the poor hub world in Galaxy 1 for the world map in Galaxy 2. Made it much snappier to get to each level. Overall lots of variety, and the post game is bananas. So much content.

But, I think think Galaxy 1 nails the atmosphere a bit more, and has a more substantial story that adds to the experience. Mechanically I think 2 is better, but the games overall are pretty tied quality wise.

The hub world in SMG1 was so frustrating to get around having played SMG2 first it felt like a major downgrade.

Yeah on replaying both games I now see SMG2's world map as a plus. SMG had too many steps to get back into the game. I think at the time I wanted a hub world more like Mario 64, so I was slightly disappointed that Galaxy 2 had even less of a hub than Galaxy 1.

That's understandable since 64 and Sunshine had great hub world's. SMG2 was my first 3d Mario I'd only ever played SMW and NSMB DS so I'd never experienced a hub world so I never cared.

Jun 24. Pikmin 1 (Switch)

I was thinking my next finished game would be TOTK, but I still have a lot more to play of that. I got to enjoy Pikmin 1 for the first time now that they added it to Switch. Pikmin 3 is my only other reference point, so this is obviously a simpler version of the same thing. Still fun! Controls are a little finicky and I feel like Pikmin get stuck more than in Pikmin 3. But still a good time overall.

How long is Pikmin? Didn't it just come out like 2 days ago? :D

Took me around 5 hours! Very short campaign. Pikmin 2 appears to be at least 3-4x the length of Pikmin 1.

Pikmin 2 was definitely a lot longer, took me about 21 hours to get through everything in the story mode. I would say the caves in the game went on a little longer than I would have liked, but overall had a good time.
