Welcome to the #BGE2020 Elimination Round of 512!

Each game is seeded based on its performance in the two opening rounds of pools. Every game in the Upper Bracket has defeated multiple other games in 1-on-1 polls to get to this point. These are still the best of the best.

Polls are updated weekly, typically on Sunday or Monday. Check back throughout the week to make sure you don't miss a vote!

HOW TO VOTE

This is easy. You only get one vote per poll. The game with the most votes wins. In the event of a tie, the higher seed advances, so don't get complacent!

This one's tough! I think Mario Maker is really, really good and was a fun creative outlet for me, but Persona 4 just rocks.

One of the best modern RPGs vs. not even one of the best Mario Maker games. Pretty easy choice. I guess the Wii U MM gets some bonus points for being the earlier official MM tool and the good one just expanded on it, but it's still not enough to make it measure up to Persona.

Out of curiosity what is your cut off for modern? 2008 was 15 years ago.

A mix of functional features (new enough to have well-synthesized influence from older genre exemplars e.g. adapting genre staples as staples/tropes rather than iterating on them) and chronological ones (deep sequel and/or spinoff series, a couple systems/generations deep, haven't themselves been superseded by a bunch of sequels, etc.).

Current-day Persona is Persona 5, not bad. Persona 4 also plays in pretty much the same paradigm as RPGs being released in 2020-23. Persona 4 is also like the 11th entry in its series.
