Re: Round 6: The Augean Stables
Really good set of games here. Castlevania III almost gets a vote for the music alone. It's also a well design very challenging platformer.
Star Fox 64 is a classic, I can play it over and over again.
Punch Out is also a classic. Really addicting puzzle-fighting game.
Unfortunately I've never played Pikmin 2.

Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!! is a masterpiece. I beat it as a kid, and it's one of my earliest "badass" game accomplishments.
I almost voted for Castlevania III, but I think I prefer both earlier games in the series. It's good, but there's something about it... I don't know. The challenge feels more uneven.
Metroid Fusion is perhaps my favourite 2D Metroid game. It has great exploraction, and it also has the benefit of ramping up the atmospheric tension inherent in the series to 200% with the introduction of a stalker figure. The fact that I experienced some truly terrifying moments out of a 2D GBA game played on a Micro screen is a testament to this game's excellent design.
I also voted for Shadow of the Colossus and Dragon Quest IV.

Re: Round 6: The Augean Stables
I voted strategically in this one. I really liked Star Fox 64 and Punch Out but I figured everybody would vote for those, so I hard picked games that I personally enjoyed greatly which weren't already guaranteed votes.

Missed Metroid Fusion on this list, totally would've voted for it as well.

Why? Because it's the best Metroid game ever made?Pluvius wrote:Missed Metroid Fusion on this list, totally would've voted for it as well.

I never thought I would feel this way, but now I know. Now I know. I never thought I would see things as I see them now, but now I know. I never thought I would hurt so bad, but now I know. Now I know.

Re: Round 6: The Augean Stables
A sad admission: the games I'd be likely to vote for are unplayed. Abstaining.

Oh Final Fantasy 4 DS, I will always love you.
