Top 512 — Week 7 — Poll 7

Welcome to the #BGE2020 Elimination Round of 512!

Each game is seeded based on its performance in the two opening rounds of pools. Every game in the Upper Bracket has defeated multiple other games in 1-on-1 polls to get to this point. These are still the best of the best.

Polls are updated weekly, typically on Sunday or Monday. Check back throughout the week to make sure you don't miss a vote!

HOW TO VOTE

This is easy. You only get one vote per poll. The game with the most votes wins. In the event of a tie, the higher seed advances, so don't get complacent!

Easy vote for FF8 here. FF7 gets so much spin-off and nostalgia love that it's easy to forget FF8 out-performed it at whatever the video game equivalent of the box office is.

Like every entry in the series, FF8 goes in a different direction from its predecessor, does something different, which a lot of people didn't like. I think this negative backlash was amplified by the fact that FF7 was so many people's first Final Fantasy game, so they weren't yet accustomed to the fact that the games were unrelated or only related thematically. So FF8 surprised noobs.

It has a good story with a nonsensical plot (or a good plot with a nonsensical story, depending on how you look at it), and fun gameplay. And great music. Man with the Machine Gun slaps. It's high up in my personal series rankings.

I friggin' love Epic Yarn. Perhaps my personal favourite Kirby game.

I’ve abstained here simply because I haven’t played it. I think FFVIII is good, but I don’t feel strongly enough about it to vote without having played the other before…

Looks like Kirby is doing fine though.
