Welcome to the #BGE2020 Elimination Round of 512!

Each game is seeded based on its performance in the two opening rounds of pools. Every game in the Upper Bracket has defeated multiple other games in 1-on-1 polls to get to this point. These are still the best of the best.

Polls are updated weekly, typically on Sunday or Monday. Check back throughout the week to make sure you don't miss a vote!

HOW TO VOTE

This is easy. You only get one vote per poll. The game with the most votes wins. In the event of a tie, the higher seed advances, so don't get complacent!

I love the original Sega CD version of Lunar so much, but XCOM is a thoroughly excellent strategy game from a good studio—just what the genre landscape needed at the time of its release. I hate to throw it under the bus, but I guess I'll make it up by voting for Silver Star Story Complete elsewhere.

When I played Lunar: Silver Star Story Complete a mere 17 years ago I didn't enjoy it as much as the Sega CD version. I'm not sure whether it's just where I was at the time (I had just beaten Eternal Blue Complete, and also wasn't 10). I should look up some information on what changed, so I can figure out how much of that was me. (fake edit, I guess it might be the further-Working Designs'd localization? although I liked Eternal Blue well enough. it was probably me).

I prefer the original X-COM UFO Defense, but I'm willing to admit that XCOM is a good game. I found it kind of railroady. I might think on this one a bit.

The original one had the rad rock & roll Saturday morning cartoon anime opening. I remember it being a bit more stripped down and less self-conscious, which I liked. There were also some plot changes but I forget details. I just remember playing SSSC and thinking "huh, what happened to that whole dungeon" and stuff along those lines.
