Welcome to the #BGE2020 Elimination Round of 512!

Each game is seeded based on its performance in the two opening rounds of pools. Every game in the Upper Bracket has defeated multiple other games in 1-on-1 polls to get to this point. These are still the best of the best.

Polls are updated weekly, typically on Sunday or Monday. Check back throughout the week to make sure you don't miss a vote!

HOW TO VOTE

This is easy. You only get one vote per poll. The game with the most votes wins. In the event of a tie, the higher seed advances, so don't get complacent!

Shining in the Darkness is my favorite dungeon crawler of all time.

It's a very good dungeon-crawler. In fact, it might be my fave in the genre as well...

Rayman Legends is a solid platformer as well, so this is a battle of two nicely-polished entries in their respective genres, but I think Shining in the Darkness is overall the better game. Plus it gave us Shining Force.

Fun fact: it took a bit for me to accept Shining Force due to my wanting another dungeon crawler out of it. I had a little bit of a wtf moment at first but it grew on me quickly. Shining Force is probably one of the best Genesis games ever made.

The thing that's impressive is how they were able to take the charm and aesthetic and "feel" of Shining in the Darkness and translate it to a completely different genre. And it works!
