The last tie-breaker had a tie between the top 2 games. Uncharted Waters: New Horizons was eliminated, leaving only the following:

1992 - Sonic the Hedgehog 2 - Genesis/MD
2008 - Valkyria Chronicles - PS3/PC

You have one vote. The poll will be open for 1 day only! If this is still a tie at the end of the designated poll period, the poll will be extended by another day.

Seems the "best game nobody played" reward was well deserved.

If it's a tie close to the end of it I'll vote sonic.

Wish I realised it was a tie last time so I could have done it then.

I like sonic enough to break the tie but not enough to vote for it if it's losing to the other game. I wouldn't want my vote to end up making them tie.

I voted for Valkyria Chronicles here. It's a unique take on a genre I enjoy, adding some elements you don't often see in a strategy-type game. The style is all remarkably fresh and clean for being anime-inspired. It was a solid and original effort, and it's a shame the sequel got railroaded on the PSP. It would be lovely to see an HD compilation of the series on PS4.

Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is just Sonic the Hedgehog with (arguably) better maps and a crappy sidekick character. I couldn't bring myself to vote for it.

I think Sonic 2's level design is definitely better than in 1. One thing 1 didn't do that well but 2 did was allow you to go through the levels quickly and fluidly. The level design in 1 often wasn't conducive to speed. You'd be waiting for a slow platform or an obstacle or a button and etc.

Tails is stupid but so is Sonic. It's not a story game though so I don't see that as relevant. I was surprised at the time how effectively they were able to speed up the game while allowing for co-op play that actually worked. My sister and I played the heck out of this game together. And, for what it's worth, I could count the games she's played in her whole life for any meaningful length of time with my fingers and still have plenty left.

Those two things worked well enough for me to get me to vote for it again and to continue to. There's no other Sonic game I'd still be supporting at this stage due to each having issues IMO in one way or another.

Edit: Except for maybe the Sonic 4's but more because my daughter loves it and she and I have enjoyed it together than for the games' merits. They're good but not great.

This is comparing apples and oranges. Moreover, to be honest, I like both games despite what I said in the original tiebreaker.

I voted for VC though because it was one of my favorite games. I literally bought a PS3 for it. I feel it is a really innovative game. I'm not sure if you could say it created its own genre since there are similar Sega games that came before as well as Hogs of War, but it refined those games enough to make that particular genre good. Sanic is just Sanic. The first three Sanic games were good platformers but not really especially amazing to me. I always liked Mario better.

Valkyria Chronicles has won the second round of this tie-breaker and will advance to the Top 128!
