Top 256 — Week 1 — Poll 30

Welcome to the #BGE2020 Elimination Round of 256!
Each game is seeded based on its performance in the two opening rounds of pools. Every game in the Upper Bracket has defeated multiple other games in 1-on-1 polls to get to this point. These are still the best of the best.
Polls are updated weekly, typically on Sunday or Monday. Check back throughout the week to make sure you don't miss a vote!
HOW TO VOTE
This is easy. You only get one vote per poll. The game with the most votes wins. In the event of a tie, the higher seed advances, so don't get complacent!

Man, wish I could vote on this one. Really need to get around to System Shock 2.

Don't worry, even though the first MMX is one of my favourite action games of all time for its zippy, fast-flowing stages, great music, and great boss/skill design, I'm still voting for System Shock 2 here as part of my
Top 256 Voting Programme. Even the best Mega Man spinoffs are still spinoffs, but SS2 is a more original and impactful game overall. It deserves to advance, whereas MMX just deserves kudos.

Depending on day of the week and phase of the moon, SS2 is my favorite game ever. I'll never forget the first time I was innocently hacking my first computer panel and then heard, "I'm sorrrryyyy" just before a crazed worm mutant started bashing me over the head. And the big reveal when you get to a certain office - yeah, if you aren't expecting it (and I sure wasn't, having not played System Shock until after the sequel) it turns the whole game on its head. Amazing job of characterizing everyone through audios, too. And then there's the sound in general - great atmospheric music, and so many of the enemies are memorably demented, from the Cyborg Midwives - "Growing babies need fresh meat" - to the droids that persist in telling you how much they would like to assist you right before detonating in your face.
Now might be the time to mention I've never really liked Mega Man games all that much.
