Welcome to the #BGE2020 Elimination Round of 256!

Each game is seeded based on its performance in the two opening rounds of pools. Every game in the Upper Bracket has defeated multiple other games in 1-on-1 polls to get to this point. These are still the best of the best.

Polls are updated weekly, typically on Sunday or Monday. Check back throughout the week to make sure you don't miss a vote!

HOW TO VOTE

This is easy. You only get one vote per poll. The game with the most votes wins. In the event of a tie, the higher seed advances, so don't get complacent!

This looks like the kind of bracket where Space Invaders would get smart influence votes, but the reality of the situation is that FF7 was just as influential in the development of JRPGs as the early genre-defining classics like DW & FF1. Before FF7, RPGs were a mere niche in the west. Now they're headliners.

Not only did it make RPGs, but FF7 also made PlayStation. Getting a big-name PS1 exclusive off Nintendo's hands right at the launch of a strange new console, using a strange new medium (4 CDs—aren't those for listening to music), from a strange new company entering the video game market (Sony—aren't those the guys who make stereos?) was a total kingmaker move. It's oddly appropriate that we're here 25 years later looking at the launch of a PlayStation 5-exclusive Final Fantasy 16 launch.

It helps that, in addition to being massively influential, FF7 is also a big, messy, ambitious, good game. Vote for FF7 here.
