Welcome to the #BGE2020 Elimination Round of 256!

Each game is seeded based on its performance in the two opening rounds of pools. Every game in the Upper Bracket has defeated multiple other games in 1-on-1 polls to get to this point. These are still the best of the best.

Polls are updated weekly, typically on Sunday or Monday. Check back throughout the week to make sure you don't miss a vote!

HOW TO VOTE

This is easy. You only get one vote per poll. The game with the most votes wins. In the event of a tie, the higher seed advances, so don't get complacent!

Oof, this is a tough match-up. SM64 has indisputable 3D platformer cred. RTK2 is my favourite entry in the whole series. It's got a perfect blend of accessibility and strategic depth. I don't think any other game has quite matched it on that front (though obviously many other strategy games have matched it on many other fronts.) I have to give this one the personal love vote. I think it's in my Top 10 fave games of all time.

So tough. Mario 64 is a stone cold classic and the first 3D platformer that did it right. Inventive as hell, redefined the series for a new generation as if it were nothing (something Nintendo has made a habit of doing). I never actually finished it until it was re-released on Wii VC, though, and RotK II is the game that reaffirmed my love for both the series and ancient Chinese culture after a 4-5 year hiatus from playing the first game. Given Mario 64's camera has not aged well, and it has been superseded by Galaxy and Galaxy 2, I actually think RotK II may even be the better game.

It's also almost certainly going to lose, so I can vote for it here and re-evaluate SM64 in a later round.
