Welcome to the #BGE2020 Elimination Round of 256!

Each game is seeded based on its performance in the two opening rounds of pools. Every game in the Upper Bracket has defeated multiple other games in 1-on-1 polls to get to this point. These are still the best of the best.

Polls are updated weekly, typically on Sunday or Monday. Check back throughout the week to make sure you don't miss a vote!

HOW TO VOTE

This is easy. You only get one vote per poll. The game with the most votes wins. In the event of a tie, the higher seed advances, so don't get complacent!

This is a crushing bracket. These games are both masterpieces. I guess the good news is one of them is guaranteed to advance to the Top 128, but I feel like if they hadn't met each other, they would both easily advance against some of the softer games elsewhere in this round.

As magnificent a platformer as Celeste is—almost (almost) on Super Meat Boy levels—I'm leaning towards Rogue Legacy for its strong role in creating a subgenre of a subgenre, basically establishing the rules and pace and progression system for Rogue-lites (a spin-off of Rogue-likes). Rogue Legacy has a very tightly-designed treadmill that's not too lax but not too onerous. It lives in a sweet spot of giving you just enough extra juice to continue fighting after each death. (While technically a better game, Hades doesn't get this balance quite right IMO, stretching out your failed runs a bit too much as you meta-advance.)

Interesting, I consider Super meat Boy a huge step down from Celeste personally.
