Here's a tie-breaker! Only one of these two games will advance to the Top 32.

75 - The Legend of Zelda: A Link between Worlds - 2013 - 3DS
127 - Castlevania - 1986 - NES

You have one vote. The poll will be open for 4 days.

The original Castlevania is a masterful action platformer—few games in its own series manage to stand up well to it. It's one of a small handful of classic games to which we owe almost an entire genre. A Link between Worlds, is that that portable A Link to the Past with a couple layers of slapdash makeup smeared on?

Sounds about right http://www.nintendo-insider.com/wp-cont ... worlds.jpg

I enjoyed A Link Between Worlds a lot, I still think it could have been a classic if they didn't have the awful idea of reusing ALTTP's overworld.

What's the original castlevania like compared to SOTN? (Only one I've played)

The original Castlevania doesn't have the RPG elements of SotN, and it's linear. It's not about exploring your way through a castle, but about getting through stages. It's pretty much a straight-up action platformer, along the lines of the Mega Man games (but with whipping instead of shooting). You jump over pits and enemies, whip enemies, and you get some special weapons (throwing knife, axe, etc.). Like Mega Man and those classic action games, progress involves learning enemy behaviour and boss patterns and reacting accordingly. There are some secrets—usually health-restoring roast chickens or weapons hidden in walls.

Also, it has amazing music.

The famous "Vampire Killer", which has been heard in numerous Castlevania games:

The somewhat less well-known "Wicked Child", which is burned into my memory because I had a hard time with this stage:

Castlevania is a given for me.
In part because I don't like Zelda.

Well, I can't really complain that Castlevania of all games is beating A Link Between Worlds.
