Welcome to the #BGE2020 Elimination Round of 128!

Each game is seeded based on its performance in the two opening rounds of pools. Every game in the Upper Bracket has defeated multiple other games in 1-on-1 polls to get to this point. These are still the best of the best.

Polls are updated weekly, typically on Monday. Check back throughout the week to make sure you don't miss a vote!

HOW TO VOTE

This is easy. You only get one vote per poll. The game with the most votes wins. In the event of a tie, the higher seed advances, so don't get complacent!

I like Actraiser, but it was really two "okay" games mashed together that gave it a great rhythm and made it fun. While that's worthwhile, it's not the game Shining Force is.
The remake actually is kind of interesting in that it turns it into three "okay" games with a lot more text to boot, which plays to the game's strengths IMO.

I definitely agree with this. Shining Force is also one of the first "accessible" tactical games, which stripped a lot of the esoteric fiddly numbers that were standard in the genre and just made it into a nice smooth RPG experience. One of the greats of the genre for sure.

ActRaiser's strength, by contrast, is not exactly fitting into any genre. Just an overall strange and strong experience.

That remake is 50% off on PSN right now, incidentally.
