Welcome to the #BGE2020 Elimination Round Lower Bracket!

Each game in the lower bracket is still seeded based on its performance in the two opening rounds of pools! Every game in the lower bracket has already been defeated by another game in a 1-on-1 poll to get to this point. This is their chance to claw their way back into the main event... but the stakes are high. The games that lose in these polls are out of the tournament for good! The games that survive will face the next crop of upper bracket losers in the next round.

Polls are updated weekly, typically on Monday. Check back throughout the week to make sure you don't miss a vote!

HOW TO VOTE

This is easy. You only get one vote per poll. The game with the most votes wins. In the event of a tie, the higher seed advances, so don't get complacent!

The same argument I've made about X-Men and Simpsons arcade applies even more to TMNT. A very fun, clean, and tight but short and simple beat'em-up. Wing Commander kind of plays the same seminal role for its own space dogfighting genre, but it just happens to be a more robust genre, at least at this earlier proto-stage (beat'em-ups later got hugely invigorated by the fusion of RPG elements).

I didn’t vote for X-Men (this most recent time) or Simpson Arcade (this time). I am going in for TMNT, though. I think the game is so conducive to comradeship and cooperation. It’s just fun - you pick a turtle and go at it with other folks. It’s neat to play with strangers and to work together to take out enemies and bosses. I had hours of fun doing this at the arcade with this game when I was a kid. So much so that I was tickled pink that it was included in the Cowabunga Collection. My son and I plowed through it with style :ninja:

Dog fighting can be fun and I appreciate its legacy and the genre itself. It’s just a little less fun, though. At least to me…
