I haven't played X and I always felt Mario Bros 3 was a teensy bit overrated so I'll abstain in this round.

I will say that I'm enjoying the heck out of this at the moment though:



Coming at SMB3 from a completely fresh perspective has made me reappraise what a solid engine it has even though I still feel it looks worse than the other NES entries in the series.

Wow, closer poll than I thought it would be. I choose Mario 3. Overall I felt the mechanics were as smooth as can be, where as with Megaman X it feels a bit more choppy. The movements are intentionally choppy for precision, but it's something I find a little more difficult to control.
