Each game is seeded based on its performance in the two opening rounds of pools. Every game in the Upper Bracket has defeated multiple other games in 1-on-1 polls to get to this point. These are still the best of the best.
Polls are updated weekly, typically on Monday. Check back throughout the week to make sure you don't miss a vote!
HOW TO VOTE
This is easy. You only get one vote per poll. The game with the most votes wins. In the event of a tie, the higher seed advances, so don't get complacent!
The fact that Chrono Trigger is the game that all subsequent RPGs get compared to as a marker of their quality ("this game stands alongside Chrono Trigger") or as a way to try to signal not only an aesthetic but a certain level of design quality ("this game takes its cues from classics like Chrono Trigger!") speaks volumes about its influence.
It also helped create Square Enix, bringing together all-stars from both companies years before the merger.
It's also one of the best RPGs from a narrative design, plot, and story standpoint (those are three different things) and all those subsequent RPGs that ostentatiously compare themselves to it for marketing purposes are wrong: they don't even come close to capturing what made CT special, however much they try.
