BOTTOM 320 — Week 2 — Poll 3

Welcome to the #BGE2020 Elimination Round Lower Bracket!

Each game in the lower bracket is still seeded based on its performance in the two opening rounds of pools! Every game in the lower bracket has already been defeated by another game in a 1-on-1 poll to get to this point. This is their chance to claw their way back into the main event... but the stakes are high. The games that lose in these polls are out of the tournament for good! The games that survive will face the next crop of upper bracket losers in the next round.

Polls are updated weekly, typically on Monday. Check back throughout the week to make sure you don't miss a vote!

HOW TO VOTE

This is easy. You only get one vote per poll. The game with the most votes wins. In the event of a tie, the higher seed advances, so don't get complacent!

I always assumed Doom 64 was some inferior port of Doom on consoles, much like Quake was. Until they remastered it and added it to Game Pass and I actually played it and realised it was a whole new game with new levels, and a very fun one at that.

Nintendo Land was a decent pack-in game, but didn't capture the simplicity or magic that Wii Sports brought to gamers and non-gamers alike back in 2006.

Aye, Doom 64's main problem is that it's simply not as good as Doom or Doom II, but it's still a better game than Nintendo Land. Nintendo Land was never going to capture the simplicity and magic of Wii Sports, but even taken on its own merits, it didn't do a very good job of "selling" the charm and unique features of the Wii U like a good tech demo should do. It just felt more cluttered, more of a product they felt like they "had" to make rather than something that felt like it organically emerged from the Wii U.

In some ways Doom 64 is better than Doom and Doom II, just not as fast.
It has better graphics. And the engine has some new features that couldn't be used in the original games.
While I do have Doom 64 on Switch (and the original N64 cartridge), I've played it more with GZDoom.
