BOTTOM 320 — Week 2 — Poll 1

Welcome to the #BGE2020 Elimination Round Lower Bracket!

Each game in the lower bracket is still seeded based on its performance in the two opening rounds of pools! Every game in the lower bracket has already been defeated by another game in a 1-on-1 poll to get to this point. This is their chance to claw their way back into the main event... but the stakes are high. The games that lose in these polls are out of the tournament for good! The games that survive will face the next crop of upper bracket losers in the next round.

Polls are updated weekly, typically on Monday. Check back throughout the week to make sure you don't miss a vote!

HOW TO VOTE

This is easy. You only get one vote per poll. The game with the most votes wins. In the event of a tie, the higher seed advances, so don't get complacent!

Super Castlevania IV is, to me, a somewhat disappointing entry in a great franchise that does a worse job of the formula than some of its predecessors. The Outer Wilds is a creative puzzle/exploration game that's not quite like anything else I've played. Pretty easy call.

Aye, I made the classic mistake that I keep checking myself for every round—mistaking Outer Wilds for Outer Worlds—but I've changed my vote to be correct thanks to your post putting my eyes back on this poll.

I agree about Super Castlevania IV. It's such an odd game. Came out right at the height of the "stuff is getting SUPERIZED on SNES!" era, 4th entry in a series of all bangers so far, and it does do some new interesting SNES tech stuff (everyone mentions the Mode 7 stuff here, but my addition of choice is the jangly whip). But other than that it's pretty much a less tight Castlevania 1. Really shows the stark difference between how Nintendo and Konami used the new platform to retread their NES hits.
