Welcome to the #BGE2020 Elimination Round Lower Bracket!

Each game in the lower bracket is still seeded based on its performance in the two opening rounds of pools! Every game in the lower bracket has already been defeated by another game in a 1-on-1 poll to get to this point. This is their chance to claw their way back into the main event... but the stakes are high. The games that lose in these polls are out of the tournament for good! The games that survive will face the next crop of upper bracket losers in the next round.

Polls are updated weekly, typically on Monday. Check back throughout the week to make sure you don't miss a vote!

HOW TO VOTE

This is easy. You only get one vote per poll. The game with the most votes wins. In the event of a tie, the higher seed advances, so don't get complacent!

I picked up Hades recently and wasn't as impressed as I expected. Maybe I haven't played enough (~3 hours) to get to the really impressive parts. It's stylish, and the story is fun, but the gameplay gets really cluttered really fast and feels too frantic for me.

I mean, I know part of the point is to die and become stronger, but I enjoyed Children of Morta and Risk of Rain more gameplay-wise.

Haven't played Arkham Asylum though.

Arkham Asylum is probably the best game in the celebrated (though somewhat less celebrated than its 2D progenitor) 3D Metcastlevania genre. Fantastic pacing (both in terms of plot and ability/progression), nice fluid combat feeling, great atmosphere/world. The only weakness is the generic feeling of the mooks (and bigger mooks).

Hades is great, though I agree with Niahak that the actual combat is the weakest part. The story, atmosphere, graphics and sound design/VA, and overall feeling of progression unlocking is top notch. But the combat veers heavily towards action, which is fine. You never get quite to the point where your upgrades are enough to counterbalance the base-level difficulty of doing the thing.

IMO these are both games at the absolute top of their class though.
