[The Shoemaker]

Finally finished Layton after having the game for quite a while. This game definitely has the most to do in it of all the games, with hint coins, artifacts and hidden items to find everywhere. I liked that the game opened up half way through and gave me choices on which parts of the story I wanted to tackle next. I especially liked how all the areas you visit evolve as the story goes on giving you reasons to go back. Overall this decision gave the game more of an adventure feel over the mystery feel of the previous games, but it worked. In terms of story I thought it was pretty good. The decision to make the game unlinear ultimately had a bit of an effect on the pacing of the story, but by the end they managed to make me teary-eyed all the same. A good closure to the Layton series.

I only played single player so can't comment on the online but the game had its moments but generally was sub par. Maybe it's due to it being an old game but it had a feel to it like it was a multiplayer focused game. The last mission being time based drove me insane considering it took me forever to work out how to finish one of the objectives then realizing that I had no chance of finishing the level now pissed me off considering it was a 21 minute mission. Not to mention a time based objective right near the end must have pissed some people off. I bypassed all the space missions considering I couldn't get the controls down and it felt confusing. Nonetheless when I get a ps4 I'm going to try Battlefront 3.
