Welcome to the #BGE2020 Elimination Round Lower Bracket!

Each game in the lower bracket is still seeded based on its performance in the two opening rounds of pools! Every game in the lower bracket has already been defeated by another game in a 1-on-1 poll to get to this point. This is their chance to claw their way back into the main event... but the stakes are high. The games that lose in these polls are out of the tournament for good! The games that survive will face the next crop of upper bracket losers in the next round.

Polls are updated weekly, typically on Monday. Check back throughout the week to make sure you don't miss a vote!

HOW TO VOTE

This is easy. You only get one vote per poll. The game with the most votes wins. In the event of a tie, the higher seed advances, so don't get complacent!

I’m abstaining here this time. Only like SotN and never played a Baldur’s Gate game.

This is tough! There are good reasons to vote for either of these.

While SOTN didn't invent metroidvanias, it IS the original "vania" in the genre, and it's aesthetically great.
While BG2 didn't invent CRPGs, it is a vast refinement over the more janky (and difficult) BG1, and really cemented the genre in people's minds.

I think I'm going to vote for BG2 here, as it's a more satisfying overall experience.

BG2 is my alltime favourite RPG. It might have to do with the modding community still being active some two decades later, too. It's a terrific game. If it loses to Symphony of the Night, it'll likely be a worthy opponent though. I couldn't get into the Castlevania games, but from what I've heard, SoTN could be the peak of the series.
