Welcome to the #BGE2020 Elimination Round Lower Bracket!

Each game in the lower bracket is still seeded based on its performance in the two opening rounds of pools! Every game in the lower bracket has already been defeated by another game in a 1-on-1 poll to get to this point. This is their chance to claw their way back into the main event... but the stakes are high. The games that lose in these polls are out of the tournament for good! The games that survive will face the next crop of upper bracket losers in the next round.

Polls are updated weekly, typically on Monday. Check back throughout the week to make sure you don't miss a vote!

HOW TO VOTE

This is easy. You only get one vote per poll. The game with the most votes wins. In the event of a tie, the higher seed advances, so don't get complacent!

Is there any argument to vote for the original over alttp?

The original isn't bad but alttp is just better in every possible way right?

There are a lot of good arguments for the original. One is that is was foundational/influential and that ALttP wouldn't exist without it. Another is that ALttP is much more scripted and guided by the invisible hand of an overseeing narrative whereas the first granted more freedom not just in exploration but also imaginationary-freedom to imbue the blank template of the game with your own heroic adventures (much like the physical blank map that was included with the game). A third would be that one prefers 8-bit aesthetics (graphics and/or music). Another would be that someone simply had more fun playing it, or has a keen nostalgia for it, it reminds them of the good old days when they play it, etc.

You yourself have voted against better-in-every-possible-way games according to some of these reasons in other polls. We all have.
