Just put in a pre-order for a Switch 2 with Mario Kart World and some extras at Nintendo. Nintendo invited me to pre-order one, so I did despite the absense of a notion about external storage (backup) for downloaded games.
Overall the Switch 2 has some nice features. But I don't think I'll get a camera for it as I probably won't use the chat anyway (but that will work fine without a camera). Mouse movement is odd as I never play videogames on a table or other flat surface. As for the rest .. I'll just have to wait and see when I get it on june 5th.
Anyone else pre-ordering the Switch 2 or waiting for pricedrops/more games or not interested?

Planning to wait for a pricedrop or more interesting games. I've blown a fair bit of my self-limited gaming budget on a Steam Deck recently, and the price tag is a bit more than I can justify.MerlinDrazziw wrote: ↑09 Apr 2025 17:42 Anyone else pre-ordering the Switch 2 or waiting for pricedrops/more games or not interested?
Mario Kart World will definitely appeal eventually. We still play a fair bit of Mario Kart. New Xenoblade / adjacent game would probably be the killer app for me. I was a late adopter on TOTK and still enjoyed it.
Switch backwards compatibility makes it more enticing as we've got a good library built up (I'm suspicious of the paid upgrade model for some games, but I'm also not likely to take advantage of them).
Not excited about the pricing of games, but I get it.
Re: Nintendo Switch 2
It's a bit expensive for my taste, just with what I have going on right now, but it looks like a perfectly fine video gaming device. I'll probably wait, either for a very unlikely sale or for a couple must-have games (new Fire Emblem, PoR&RD HD Remasters or something). I definitely won't use video chat, but voice chat will be nice. Glad to see them joining the PS2 generation with that one lol.
Also there's no way the mouse functionality is ever going to get used for anything useful. Control gimmick way worse than WiiMotes. Maybe Hori will release real mouse peripherals for it eventually.

Re: Nintendo Switch 2
It wasn't great but I remember using a Wii Speak for Monster Hunter Tri. Not sure it counts though as it was a game by game support thing, and reading the list of supported games MHT is the only standout.
It is strange they never added support at a system level until now.

I can see myself using the voice thing if I get to play online with my nephew, but that's about it. There are other reasons to grab a Switch 2. Looking forward to US preorders opening up.
