I figured there should be a place on here to discuss the olympics.
Last night I watched the USA women's soccer team beat New Zealand. After all the negative publicity surrounding the games, I was a bit reluctant to tune in, but I am back on the wagon. CNN mentioned that a horribly low percentage of tickets have been sold, and it has been very apparent watching the soccer games yesterday and today.

I didn't think I could care less about an Olympics than the ones in Russia, but the Rio Games proved me wrong.
And also with a lot more governments bulldozing the homes of poor people.

The opening ceremony is on tonight. My favorite is still the parade of nations. I love those countries with like 3 people participating. They are all usually so excited!

Can't wait for Toyko so the athletes are actually competing in a safe country.

My guess is Japan won't bulldoze poor people's homes and extort money from every class of citizen to build up gaudy temporary cities that'll be left to rot after a couple weeks.
I don't think it's entirely Brazil's fault. Some of the blame lies with the Olympics organization. Some lies with nationalism-fuelled media marketing machines. Some lies with us, for eating it up.
