Mario Kart 8 Q/A

Thought this might be a nice place to talk about the game so we don't clog up the other thread. I guess some of my basic questions are about the racers you use, vehicle arrangement, favorite and least favorite courses, etc...

I use Baby Peach with the Pipe Frame, Cyber Slick Tires, and Standard Glider EDIT- Gold Glider now.

Favorite courses are probably Mt. Wario, Electrodrome, Rainbow Road, and Toad Harbor.

LEAST favorite are Dolphin Shoals, Dry Dry Desert, and Bone Dry Dunes

I figure this might also be a place to share shortcuts, tips, rants, and stories of joy and sadness.

Favorites information can now be found and changed easily by visiting the document here:

This morning (Evening for you guys) I was using

Yoshi with Circuit Speed/Crimson Slim/Wario Wing

Also here's the Rainbow Road (New one) shortcut all 3 of us were using.

Favorite tracks are

Mount Wario (Easily my favorite)
Electrodome (All the colors make it fun and the musics good)
Sunshine Airport (Mario Sunshine like and i'm decent at it)
Toad Habor (I could not tell you why I like it I just do)

Least favorite are

Dry Dry Desert (It looks and feels boring)
Bone Dry Dunes (It looks and feels boring)
Toad Turnpike (Way to easy to dodge cars and it's just a figure 8)
Dolphin Shoals (Just don't like it)
Donut Plains 3 (It's short and boring)

Glad you guys were able to nail that one down! Doesn't it help a ton!?

If you want to be really daring, you can skip to the section below where you land if you have a mushroom. So it is kind of like you are going down 2 big steps. I rarely do this though.

I knew about it but thought it was you go from the left and jump down (aka that section you're mentioning now)

Edit: Penny Arcade made a MK8 Post thought I'd share.

Start this video around 8 minutes. This guy starts the RR shortcut from the left fork! Not sure if its faster though, but it looks cool.

I don't have anything unlocked (I've got gold on all the 50cc cups, but not 100cc or 150cc), so I use standard kart, standard wheels, and standard glider.

Surely you must have unlocked some more Kart options after last night. Its all done with coin collecting. Once you go into single player mode you will get the part you unlocked. Then, if you exit out and go back in, chances are you will get another part. It only gives you one at a time for some reason, even if you have passed more of the coin benchmarks.

Oh, probably. I'll check later on. Is there any kind of consensus on what the best parts/combos are, or is everything pretty well balanced this time around? (Ha!)

I just played a worldwide match online with my wife, and there were only 4 human players. There were also 5 Mario's named "Player" that appeared once the game started. After the race, their VR number was 1. Anyone else see this? What do you think it might be?
